Where To Find The Hero – DoWoo #344/365

A hero is described as one who acts with extraordinary courage.  The Serenity Prayer includes a request for having “courage to change the things I can”.  If heroes have extraordinary courage…what things would a hero do with my life?

When I worked 10-12 hours at the office, I imagine a hero would help me find something to do which I still enjoyed while eliminating long hours and stress.

Realizing I have more bills at the end of the month than income (anyone with me here?), I could see a Hero would help me organize my income and my expenses to be in synch with each other – and ensure I had enough disposable income left over to have fun travelling and doing what I truly wish to do.

Better yet, my Hero would help me figure out what I really wanted to do…and then work alongside me to do exactly that.

So where do I find a Hero?

grad in mirror

Being the hero of my life, I chose to sell almost everything I own and travel to another country to provide a different life for myself and my family. I no longer work in an office for 10-12 hours a day. I have money at the end of my month. If I want to go to the beach – I do.  If I want to spend the morning laying in, cuddling with my husband – I do so. I am able to have breakfast with my son, be available when he comes home from school, spend time playing games and be a full-time mom each and every day.  I work at what I love and I love what I do.

I learned many things being a student of the Master Key Experience.  The major lesson…I am THE hero in my own life.  Now, as a Master Guide, I get to help others become heroes in their own lives. What an amazingly cool way to spend my day.

What would a Hero do with your life?

Did I Learn ANYTHING? – DoWoo #343/365

I recognized a variety of things this evening…all due in thanks to the Master Key Experience. I have changed.  I continue to change.  I am grateful it is towards where I envision myself to be. If I had to sum it up in one word – it would be Awareness.

Pros_and_ConsOn the pro side the 3 top things are:

  • awareness that I am so much more than I thought I was,
  • I have the ability to alter my thoughts and impact the result around me and
  • I am totally responsible for everything which happens to me.

On the con side the 3 top things are:

  • awareness that I am so much more than I thought I was,
  • I have the ability to alter my thoughts and impact the result around me and
  • I am totally responsible for everything which happens to me.

Yes…I realize when I listed the top pros they were also the top cons.

  • On the plus side being aware that I am more is great – it allows me a realization that I am pretty awesome.  On the not so plus side, knowing that I am awesome and have not been honouring this blessing to its fullest means I’m being less than grateful.
  • On the plus side realizing that I have the ability to alter my thoughts and impact the results around means that I am able to create whatever reality I wish.  On the not so plus side it means that if I am not living my life in the reality I desire, I have not used this gift to its full extent.
  • On the plus side recognizing I am responsible for everything which happens allows me to take ownership for my circumstances and revel in all that I have accomplished. On the not so plus side it means if I am not as enamoured in my current circumstances I have no-one to lay blame on, it is all my doing.

Mark J, the main instructor within the Master Key Experience, comments “we are made first class, by first class, to live first class.” I surmise anything other than a full embrace of all that we are within, could be interpreted as being a disservice to our creator and to ourselves.  It gets back to us being all that we can be.  I am that I am.

I now live with purpose. It’s no longer about survival.  I did this for decades.  Survival would be considered part of the disservice I mentioned.  Embracing each day with the love of life, the love of myself and the love for all those I connect with – this allows for growth, happiness and fulfillment of purpose.   It all boils down to love.

I was going to start by making a list of people who could benefit from taking this course but then realized that would narrow the scope of reality where it need not be.  I truly believe everyone could benefit from learning about themselves.

An aside – We were talking to Gregory about an aspect where we declared ‘teacher teacher’. This is meant to signal him to pay special attention to whatever we are talking about – it is an important lesson. Gregory groaned and advised us ‘teacher teacher’ is fine but we don’t ever say ‘class dismissed’. To this, Walter and I counselled him – lessons are always in session. Once you stop learning from life, that is when you are dead.

Could we all not benefit from learning about ourselves?

I am blessed this class has shown me how to learn whatever it is I  wish to learn. I am grateful it showed me how to be true to myself – and to recognize when I am not being as true as I could be – so I may choose to readjust.  All great tools to maximize my life experience on a daily basis.   While Mark J, our mentor, went from ‘broke in Boston to beachfront in Kauai’, we have gone from ‘cold in Canada to lakefront in Costa Rica’.  Knowing what we now know from having taken the Master Key Experience, I imagine it only gets better from here on in.

What do you imagine your reality to be?
What change would you like to make?

Relabeling – DoWoo #267/365

The count down is getting a bit scary…no exciting…scary…exciting!    I remember being coached during the Master Key on reviewing the feelings within my core whenever I felt scared versus excited and the amazing recognition that they each feel just about the same.   Recently, each time I have felt what I used to call “scary” (the unknown we are jumping into with all 6 of our feet) I have immediately told myself it is not scary, I’m just “excited”.

me wafflingBottom line is we ALL have the ability to choose what we label these feelings.  I’ve recognized this ability and am working on it – it just may take a bit of time to totally adjust within my subconscious mind. BUT…it is possible.

Over the past 5.5 months we’ve experienced what I’ve repeatedly referred to as the rollercoaster.  Other options Walter and I have used to describe this are sine waves and the EKG machine which tracks your heart beats.  I still prefer the rollercoaster since climbing to the top can seem like it takes forever but once you are there, the drop and roll to the next peak can be so very quick.

As we wrap up the house stuff and get ready for our stint at the hotel, I have been considering all sorts of surprises for the family in order to make this next step the adventure it should be.  For Gregory we’ve got his friends lined up for a surprise early birthday pool / water slide party, we’ve arranged for family and friends to join us at the Mandarin (Gregory’s favourite “Chinese Buffet”) and yesterday I purchased tickets to the local amusement park – Canada’s Wonderland.  AND guess what the main attractions are??

roller coastersROLLERCOASTERS!

I look forward to solidifying my relabeling of the “rollercoaster” feelings – excitement, excitement, excitement!

Never Look Back – DoWoo #262/365

Received a note from The Universe this morning….

Once you make up your mind, Carolynn, and start something. Once you commit to it, say “Yes!” and never look back. Do you have any doubt that I won’t rush to your side?  That legions won’t be summoned? That players won’t be drawn to help, assist, and fall in love? That connections won’t be made? Circumstances won’t be crafted? Dots won’t be connected?  That the course of history won’t be irrevocably changed?
Good, I didn’t think so.
I’d say you’re ready,
    The Universe”

This has been a running message from a variety of sources during the last week while I have been second guessing myself and the journey we have begun.  Each subsequent ‘similar’ message was meant to hit over the head with the message that I need to be all that I know I am within – strong, confident, tenacious, adventurous, spontaneous…with just a touch of the crazy thrown in to keep it interesting.  Wow! I kind of like that description.

The journey we have started is a “Yes” and I should not be looking back.  I AM all of these things when I allow myself to just “be”.  When I worry and consider all the permutations of what “could” happen, I am literally wasting my precious time as well as waving a finger at The Universe claiming it does not have my back!  AND it does!

So why not embrace with faith the underlying message from all of these self help sessions, improve yourself courses, become all that you can be coaching?   The Universe is going to move everything to help you to complete your quest. All you have to do is allow it to.   As a parent, I want the world for Gregory.  And if I had the ability to have his back no matter what direction he went on….why would The Universe – our source – feel any different about us?

I got the message.  Much appreciated!!

Mucho Gracias!

Discombobulated – DoWoo #246/365

I give myself permission to feel tired. I give myself permission to feel scared. I give myself permission to feel overwhelmed. And I give myself permission to feel discombobulated!

neg posI live in a world of so much negativity.   Every day I struggle against the angst and upset which can result from such energy.  I consistently find myself choosing to turn my thoughts towards more positive results.

What I realized today is that by pushing these feelings down has not released them. I have instead allowed them to simmer beneath the surface, waiting to take rise at the least opportune moment.

Instead I believe I am meant to take ownership, allow it to be a thought, recognize it for what it is, then allow it to wash through me, releasing it behind me.  I have not done this well.  I have allowed it to percolate.

No longer.

I give myself permission to feel tired knowing I have unlimited strength which comes to me as I need it.   I give myself permission to feel scared knowing that what I fear most ends up not being real. I give myself permission to feel overwhelmed knowing all things work out in the end and if they have not worked out as yet, it is not the end. I give myself permission to feel discombobulated knowing that as time ticks on it will all become clear. Everything is as it should be…even the moments of negativity exist to allow us to have faith.

What do you give yourself permission to feel?

Bring It On! – DoWoo #242/365

What is it about “things” which have people arguing and grappling to possess?  It appears I am coming full circle in my life about owning things at the same time as my family is in the midst of waiting to hear about our mother’s will and allocation of her things.

Why do so many of us hold stock in the materialistic nature of our environment?

momentsI was on the receiving end of a conversation with a sibling today – where she shared her perspective on what our mother had intended, what she had offered, what was not accepted and now regretted, how others were perceiving the transactions – the list goes on. I found myself listening…doing my best to understand and decipher the truth. All I observed was the sadness of being so attached to these things.

I later was on a call for business when the person I was exchanging information shared how they were just recovering…and just back to work…from chemotherapy.  I then spoke briefly to a friend of ours this evening who was exhausted with the work load of her business…not knowing when it would lighten up.

I step back this evening and wonder…what is it about ‘work’ and ‘money’ and ‘things’ which has us so enamoured that we allow them to envelope our daily existence?   Do we feel there is no choice? What is the purpose? What is accomplished by it all?

I observe I am learning to release things. Learning to put my existence into perspective. Learning to allow the messages being shared by the situations of other to be heard.  There is a definite shift going on in my universe. A shift in my understanding.  It is not fully clear – as yet. But I am observing and I am listening.

I look forward to the next lesson…

Blessing Received – DoWoo #241/365

Many of us have heard of the phrase manifesting.  The Secret introduced an entire generation to the Law of Attraction. The Master Key explains the power of our mind.  I kept the faith and we have received what we asked and were grateful for before we were in receipt.

We found an airline which will take an extra large crate. We confirmed that Mya will not be able to go with us in June but she will be able to come back with us in September.  Today we received two leads on where she can stay for the 3 months we are gone. It felt so amazing to receive such a blessing.

deltaWhen we explained to Gregory there was good news and bad news…which did he want first? He opted for the bad so the good could be last (he also saves his favourite food till last).  We explained Mya was unable to come with us right away but the good news is she would join us in September. He was so happy with the last (because for a while there we thought we may not be able to get here down there at all) he bounced out of the door way. He said the good news was so good it did not matter about the bad.

I observed a child who has learned to embrace the good and just allow the “not-so-good” to just fall away.  It’s a wonderful place where a child teaches his parents.  I am most grateful.

Back on Solid Ground – DoWoo #232/365

The last few days have been a bit of a ride (possibly a slight understatement) but the good news is we are now what appears to be a patch of solid ground.  Not sure how large the patch is. Recognize that the ride may take some time.  Rather than fight it, I’m going to thoroughly embrace and allow.  Maybe I should make that into a T-shirt! Hmm…a project for another day.

We officially signed our rental house commitment for the next year in Costa Rica.  At the end of all the reasons lies the final result – we’ve chosen to embrace the opportunity for a solid adjustment period.  It may be beneficial that I used to train on the joys of relocation and possible culture shock.  While I do not have the specific training on what to expect in Costa Rica, I have resources readily at my disposal and as long as I remain open and observant, I believe we will spot any aspects which require a personal realignment.

Interesting…I’m just now recalling an astrological reading I received over 13 years ago. This was pre-Walter.  I was told that by the time I was 52 I was to “hit it big”.  These words had reverberated around in my mind for years.  But I do not recall the last time I thought about this statement and the one that followed.  “Everything you do from now until then may not seem like it is connected. But it is.  You will do something which allows you to use everything you’ve done up till then.  And you hit it big.”

I’m turning 50 this year!  OMG….I know….I know.

Supposedly everything in your life is set up in sets of 7 – and then there are seven sets of 7s. The last is: Reconstruction, adjustment and recuperation (43-49) which leads to harmony . I wrote about this during our first Master Key sessionweek 16 January 18th, 2014 “significant realignment of my psyche – I’m definitely getting there (literally and figuratively) and am tickled beyond measure to be in this stage – embracing what is being offered – have a new dog!”

If selling our house and 95% of what we own, then hopping on a plane to Costa Rica for a year with a 10 year old and a dog is not a significant reconstruction, adjustment AND a recuperation period…well, I don’t know what is.

As of this year – for both of us, we are shifting into a new phase – the beginning year of the next set of 7 years.  Now, I’m not sure exactly what this means as it relates to me being in the 8th set – what happens after the 7th set of 7…I do not recall it saying.  It’s got to be big though!!   At least that’s what I’m going to tell myself!!

Whether it’s from an astrological, spiritual, God gifting, universal rightness perspective…it does not matter. Walter and I are heading into what could possibly be one of the most exciting periods of our lives.  Now THIS is an adventure!

Life Growth Is Like Driving Shift – DoWoo #226/365

I have a collection of books on my phone which allow me to tap into pretty amazing observations. Sometimes I just need to read the positive and encouraging words of Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Og Mandino, Mike Dooley, James Allen, John Maxwell, Napoleon Hill…need I say more?  The last few days I have taken to re-reading Your Erroneous Zones by Wayne Dyer. This is what I read today:

drive-a-stick-shift“Think back to the time you were learning to drive a stick shift automobile. you were faced with what seemed to be an insurmountable problem. Three pedals but only two feet to make them work.  You first became aware of the complexity of the task. Let the clutch out slow, oops too fast, jerky business, gas pedal down at the same rate as you release the clutch, right foot for the brake, but the clutch must go in, or you jerk again.  A million mental signals: always thinking, using your brain. What do I do? Awareness, and then after thousands of trials, mistakes, new efforts, the day comes when you step into your car and drive away. No stalling, no jerking and no thinking. Driving a stick shift has become second nature, and how did you do it? With great difficulty. Lots of present-moment thinking, reminding, working.”

1984I remember learning stick.  I dated a fellow who let me shift from the passenger side while he worked the clutch – allowing me to get a feel for the concept first. My very first car was standard – a 1984 VW Rabbit. I sat in it and instantly fell in love – this car was mine. I then turned the keys over to the same young man and he test drove it. After I handed over the cash, he drove the car home so he could then teach me how to drive it.  I remember stalling out numerous times before I finally got the car moving in first gear, then driving blocks without shifting out of first for fear of stalling out.   Now…it’s just like Wayne says…effortless, without thinking about it. but it took a lot of mental work to get to this space.

This analogy was noted after Wayne explained that Happiness is a natural condition of being a person. and that New thinking requires awareness of old thinking. You have become habituated in mental patterns that identify the causes of your feelings as outside of yourself. You have put in thousands of hours of reinforcement for such thinking, and your’ll need to balance the scale with thousands of hours of new thinking, thinking that assumes responsibility for your own feelings.”

WOW! Did you get all that?

To break it down into what I understand: I am totally responsible for all my thoughts, my actions and my feelings, and therefore anything which is going on around me…I am responsible for it.  AND if I wish to change it, it may be uncomfortable, challenging, appear awkward, and take numerous attempts, even failed or stalled attempts…but if I persist – and embrace that I am also responsible for my sticktuitiveness – I have an immense opportunity to exceed at my life.

AND that ability is within me right now!  It is also with you!

total responsibility

How powerful is that?

Are you interested in learning to drive stick? Are you driving your vehicle (life) to it’s fullest capacity or are you staying in first gear?  Do not drown in multitudes of information. Take action.  Receive the “how” on making your life happen as you envision it.  Add your name and email to my list.  I will let you know once the next Master Key Experience is available (fall 2015) and you will get first shot to hear what is offered.

When was the last time you were given first shot to exceed at life?

If you change how you look at things – the things you look at change! – Wayne Dyer

Do you realize that the choice is TOTALLY up to you?

Og, Wiki & Wayne Dyer – DoWoo #219/365

“Failure will never overtake you if your determination to succeed is strong enough.” – Og Mandino.

This quote went along with the story of one lone sparrow being courageous enough to come inside while thousands of his kind remained outside. After the bird was fed he seemed to have disappeared through lattice openings which appeared almost impossible to have entered.

Every day we are given hours of continuous moments where we can be courageous.

What is courage?

Wiki defines courage as: the ability and willingness to confront fear, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation.

Interesting…I had not put these two things together…that is until NOW.

Wait for it….

“Love is the ability and willingness to allow those that you care for to be what they choose for themselves without any insistence that they satisfy you.” – Dr. Wayne Dyer

This is a quote Walter shared with me early on in our relationship.  He said this book had saved his life after he and his first (practice) wife divorced. He even went so far as to purchase a case of the books and hand one to anyone in his life who was struggling.  I can only imagine the legacy both Wayne and Walter left in their wake.

When I think of this specific definition of love, I typically concentrated on the part where this is a challenging way to live – rewarding yes! – but a challenge to embrace to the degree which I believe you needed to…in order to truly live it. I am in awe of how well Walter does this and aspire to embrace it as well as he has.

Now however, I realize the connection…having written of this evening’s combination of quotes:

Love is Courage!  Courage is Love!

My Reality – DoWoo #216/365

spaceThis is something I have been giving some serious thought to.  How is it that we feel we need to protect ourselves from others when they give us no cause for concern – no indication that anything is astray? From what I have observed, it appears to be because certain people have been burned.  And because they have been taken advantage of, a good portion of the rest of us now live in a negative space, second guessing someone’s motives.  While this is a space I have been known to visit – I’ve never enjoyed being there.

What would the world look like if people were to say what they mean and mean what they say? If everyone were to chose a road of kindness and compassion for their fellow human beings?  Is this even possible?  Is there such a space where this portion of “utopia” exists.

UtopiaLet us embrace the philosophy that everything we learn in the Master Key is true and our thoughts DO create our reality. Imagine each of us now has 2 choices: 1) embrace as reality that everyone is truthful and treats others as we were all meant to treat and be treated – with compassion and respect; or 2) wonder whether it is possible another human being may act in ways which are not true or compassionate/respectful to another.

The reality may then be that depending upon which option a  person chooses to embrace, they are correct.  As Henry Ford stated: “Whether you think you can, or you can’t – you’re right.”

realityI imagine that if I choose option 2 – and if something goes astray – I could then do the dreaded “I told you so” speech to myself and feel vindicated EVEN if the result is someone lying to me and being disrespectful.    I thought about this happening…and so, it became my reality.

realityNow, on the other hand, if I choose option 1 – I could receive complete trustworthy interactions and be respected beyond anything I had seen till now.   Good attracts good and I am good, honest and caring.  Why would I not attract good, honest and caring people?  And life is what I thought about…and so it became my reality.

realityI was just about to write about a caveat on option 1 – that there may still be a chance the person lies and is disrespectful….but then I realized, if what I think about becomes my reality, and I believe there is a slight chance, then guess what??  That chances exists.  And so, it became my reality.

To sum up an example of what I’m working towards understanding in my world within, in order to embrace it in my world without, I believe Drake said “I’d rather be an optimist who is sometimes wrong than a pessimist who is always right.”

What do you think??

Embrace & Release – DoWoo #215/365

catch_and_release_logoNow this may sound similar to catch and release but I assure you…this has nothing to do with fishing.  Although you could choose to use this philosophy for fishing if that is your thing.

This morning I received news of something which could have been perceived as sad or unfair. Turns out the first person wanted to do X.  The other person, in control of X, advised the first person X was no longer available.

ideasIn considering options, numerous ideas went through my head.  What I ended up embracing was 1) the only person I have any control over is me and 2) all things happen for a reason, and when that reason shows itself it is inline with my predominant thoughts.

I have had numerous instances lately which have shown me something challenging shows me a brighter path. It may not happen instantaneously but it does happen.  I suggested the first person release the situation, and the other person’s decision, and embrace faith in God / the Universe / our source to reveal the ultimate benefit – all in good time.

silver liningI have experienced situations which are devastating at the time but in hindsight, without that devastation, the huge benefit / gift received may not have transpired. Recently

I’ve noticed that when I have totally embraced the belief that a challenge has a silver lining, and release any need for the outcome to be revealed “now” – allowing it to unfold as it is meant to – the benefit I received appeared fairly quickly.

When I have struggled with the challenge, complaining, berating….living in the negative space it provides if I allow it to – THEN the benefit appears to have taken a long time to make itself known to me.

I choose embrace and release.
What would you choose?

Writer’s Choice – DoWoo #210/365

author-quiz-imageI am the author of my life.  Ergo we are each the author or our life. While we are given an amazing life to lead…it is up to us to fulfill our dharma, our destiny, our purpose. While God’s Hand is there to help us, ultimately I believe the path we are on is what we have chosen.  If we choose darkness we are enveloped by despair. If we choose lightness we embrace pure joy.

I had the pleasure of being on the Master Key 2014/15 Commencement session this afternoon. To watch snippets from the last 6 months highlight through slides from each week, to see the comments from the members who experienced the class this year, to hear from a select few who totally embraced the environment provided and have created or are in the process of creating their bliss….what can I say?  I was in awe for having been a part of all this.

The graduates heralded their appreciation to the Master Key team – for the environment which allowed them to find and embrace who they are meant to be, what is within each and everyone of us…just waiting to be set free.  Many shared their wish that we could have everyone take this course.

It is possible.
There is nothing which is impossible.

Each of those people we wish would take the course – they must choose to take it.   We cannot write their story.  We can provide them with the pen, the paper, the material to consider, an environment to shine, skills to share, but ultimately THEY must write their story.   They must choose to pick up the pen.

authorI understand there is something called “writer’s block”. After having sat here each and every evening for 210 evenings (wow – that’s approximately 7 months!), sharing my thoughts, truly doing my best to observe daily without opinion – I choose the belief that there is always something to write about.  It may not be earth shattering each and every day but on the flip side…I’ve not taken earth shattering steps each day.  I consider growth to be a process.  A step by step process which builds understanding and allows me to become who I am meant to be. And some days…it IS earth shattering!

If we are the author, and we have the ability to choose, then we CAN create anything with our life and once that happens we are in a position to share.  Others see, hear, believe, FEEL our words and actions…and realize they too can take this journey.  All they have to do is choose!

What do you choose??

Keep an open mind.  Choose to hear more about this environment which allows you to tap into your best you…add your name and email below. Once the next course if made available, we as graduates get to share with those we know first.  Make sure you are one of the people provided with this choice.  You have so much to gain…and nothing to loose! That my friend is what we call a Win/Win situation!

PMA – DoWoo #203/365

Over the last year I have had the honour of learning and collaborating alongside Marea – an inspiring mom of 2 (soon to be 3) who took one of the key aspects of our Master Key class and created her site “Family Positive Mental Attitude“.

Having a daily PMA is one of the areas Napoleon Hill speaks about.

Gratitude goes out to Mark J for having posted this, reminding me of the power of these 20 points.

All 20 are already within us!
How great is that!?
No need to go to the store to purchase ANYTHING

I re-watched, making copious notes, since Mark asked what was the most important parts, what have I “nailed” and where I believe I need to improve?  My answers:  Favourite: #4: especially when irritated or angry has been part of my routine, however I will now adopt the 1 full minute first thing in the morning. Nailed: nothing fully but for the most part #8 through #11. Room to Improve: all of it – but specifically #14 and #15.

I took loads of notes because not only does Hill explain the point, he tells you how to do it.  This is so in line with what the Master Key Experience is like – The course explains the key points on realigning your life BUT more importantly shows how to go about doing it.

If you watch the above video and say anything similar to what said a year and 1/2 ago “How can I possibly do all that!?” – let me assure you, you CAN.  That’s point #6!

We were on the last ‘weekly’ call of the Master Key today. Next Sunday is our commencement. 6 full months of realigning our thoughts with our desires and fueling them with the power of feeling. For those of us who have stayed the course…who have embraced the exercises…we have reaped significant rewards.

Have you ever wondered why your goals remain just out of reach?   Have you ever questioned why what you have concentrated on does not happen?  How would you like to put actions into play which reaps results?  If you have answered yes to any of these questions….share your details with me below and I will ensure you are one of the select few who hear about the next class before the masses do.  There is a maximum number of scholarships awarded.  If we can show you how to do this, truly show you how to put your dream into reality, why would you not want to sign up?

Someone’s Eyes – DoWoo #178/365

frontexteriorview2_1200The first thing I notice as we pull up to the house is that it’s cute…and the front door is red. It looks like a bungalow. Ooh, I kind of like the hedge. I can imagine it green and straight cut.

As we walk up the path, I’m looking at the massive picture window which is in the front room – it’s beautiful.

livingroomview1_1200The great room is the first thing we see as we walk into the foyer. It’s red with white trim. Not much furniture and only 1 couch…but boy, what a couch.  That’s huge. Our sectional would work nicely in here. Maybe the TV up there. Or, as I walk farther into the room, I turn around and can see it on that wall too.  We’ve got choices. Could not imagine painting a room red but I like this.  Its warm and yet modern.

frontentranceview2_1200Walking out I notice the front closet – double louvered doors with a light inside. The floors are kind of a light moss green.

kitchenview1_1200Ooo – the kitchen is a really good size.  Wow a table and a hutch in this space? Good layout. Open. 2 decent sized windows. Again, lots of light.

Which way does this face? South east. So we’ll get morning light.  NICE!

kitchenview2_1200Door to outside. Let’s see the rest of the house first. Stone wall. That’s kind of different. I run my hand over it. The texture is warm.

Bathroom. Check. Jacuzzi tub. Now THAT will be inviting after a long day. I can see candles up on the window ledge at night…the tub going.

bedroom2_1200This is a good size bedroom – enough for a chair.  You can see the back yard from here. There’s a shed. It’s fenced. Next bedroom…it’s a really good size for an office. 2 desks fit in here.

masterbedroom_1200Master. Closet. Drapes and sheers. Pretty. Oh, there is a slide. And a swing with awning in the back yard. I wonder if they have pictures of the yard in the summer. Wow. There is a lot of room on either side of this bed! And that’s a queen.  That means a king size bed will fit in here!

Linen closet. They must have cleaned this up…no one’s linen closet looks like this. Interesting door.  Basement door has glass panels. Pulling open. That means we can easily open it coming or going.

finishedbasementview2_1200This is bright! Hey, bar stools…and a bar. Is that paneling? Cool. Retro!  Fireplace. Obviously wood with that stack over there. This stone wall is huge. And the granite! It’s pretty thick. I can see myself chilling down here.

The “for sale” sign went up on the house. The virtual tour photographer was here this morning. This whole thing became real. Maybe “more” real than it has been. When I started thinking about the house and how we are all concentrating our thoughts on someone loving this house enough to make it their home – this weekend – I started to imagine what they would say as they walk through the house.  I can feel their vision. I see it.

I am confident someone is going to come through the door and feel the love and happiness we have infused into each corner of this brick house. Gregory explained he figures they have a son his age so when we leave, his best friend Anil will have a replacement friend at the same house. Love his imagination!  No limits. We look forward to coming home on Sunday.

Truth – DoWoo #176/365

Am sitting here…exhausted. Ever have one of those days? It seems like I’m experiencing quite a number of these lately. I wonder why?

Please keep in mind…I don’t drink coffee!    Could it be the:

moving furniture

my mom and her health
family meetings
our son
woman-pulling-hair-out_-Cartoon_shoveling ice and snow

Hmmm…I’m seeing a pattern here.  Maybe I should go read my post where Walter reminded me I need to learn how to say no.  I thought I had been saying no more recently but it just does not seem like there is any way around what I’ve currently got going on. It appears

I am committed!

straight-jacketNow…don’t take that in the sense I need a special jacket or room…but in the way that once I agree to do something, I follow through.  This is where I need to be careful as to how many things I say yes to, so that I have balance on what I can follow through on and maintain a semblance of personal sanity.

Our exercise this week is to concentrate on Truth. “Try to realize that the Truth shall make you free, that is, nothing can permanently stand in the way of your perfect success when you learn to apply the scientifically correct thought, methods and principles.”

My “truth” at this moment is I must embrace more within from accessing more silence. I know this is an area I have allowed to slide.  I also recognize that without it, the above list can lead me to feeling overwhelmed and out of control.

Have you ever felt that way??

I solemnly make a commitment to myself to embrace my silence in a more consistent manner. I know in doing so, I am the master of my fate, and have access to infinite strength to work with.

Positive Energy – DoWoo #172/365

Visited my mom today in the hospice. When I announced I was there she greeted me by name. We had a nice chat. I mentioned that one of my sisters was coming later and staying over.

travelbags450x200During our chat I recognized that if I put aside my personal baggage with this sibling – and looked at her from a different perspective (maybe a bit of yesterdays outside looking in) I realized she is a good daughter. She has always been there to do and to ask and respond, to set up and organize, to include and manage. My mom is blessed to have a daughter such as this. “You certainly have a good one there.” I told my mom.

My mom has 7 of us: 5 daughters and 2 sons.  I remember asking her whether she imagined all these kids. When she answered “no” I asked how then? To which she responded “My eggs were hot!”  When I step back and consider what each of us brings to our relationship / our interaction with mom – I realize she is truly blessed. She has a good variety of characters to keep her entertained – we are all individuals that is for certain.

The same sister I mentioned showed up shortly thereafter and set up her laptop and her overnight bag letting mom know she was all set for the sleep over. She pointed out all the little things we could do to help mom stay more comfortable – I helped a bit. I observed that she knew a lot of what was going on with mom from her constant visits.

Just as I was leaving one of the nurses came in. We recognized each other from my previous visit. She gave me a big smile, we embraced with a heartfelt hug and words of greeting. My sister looked up (it seemed with a bit of surprise) asking if we knew each other from before. We admitted to just having met the last time I was in.

THIS is what I bring for mom. Positive enthusiastic energy filled with happiness and joy. Giving her a kiss as I left, I whispered to mom “Stay out of trouble. And if not, tell me about it later.” I heard her chuckle.

I am truly blessed to have been given a scholarship, and now introduce others so they may have a chance to obtain a scholarship, in the Master Key class.  With everything we learn, I am now in a position to choose how I look at things…even my moms declining health and ultimately my own mortality.

I ask you…do you want an opportunity to look at things differently?  Only you can choose to take the next step.  I promise it is a ‘positive’ one – LOL!   Opt in below and I will personally ensure you receive the information about the next class (Fall 2015).  Then you can review the information for yourself and decide.  What have you got to loose? Nada.  What have you got to gain? Whatever you set your mind to!

Makeover in Reverse? – DoWoo #169/365

images (22)Many of you may recognize the name Ben Franklin.  Back in 1726, at the age of 20, Benjamin Franklin created a system to develop his character.  Using a list of 13 virtues he tracked daily his observations of these virtues.  And in the words of a dear friend, one can only recognize something in someone else when we have it within ourselves.    We can use the Franklin method and choose any aspect of our character we wish to identify, magnify and multiply.  By Observing, Tracking and then Recognizing, we can create a ripple effect within ourselves to grow that which we concentrate on.  “Whatever we think about grows.” – Napoleon Hill.

REVERSE ARROW_OCS ICON_86 x 81 blueToday I observed this process in what I can only describe as the Franklin makeover in reverse.  I recognized someone who does not see a particular character aspect within themselves AND interestingly they also do not recognize this same character aspect in another.  Allow me to try and elaborate without calling attention to anyone in particular as that is not what my writing today is about.

In the first example – let’s consider that I personally wish to magnify kindness. By observing and then recognizing (while recording in order to track my progress), acts of kindness around me in my daily life, I begin to observe and recognize this same attribute within myself.  Then by seeing it within myself, I see it more in others and more in myself. Creating a wonderful cycle of positive growth.

Hill also states “We refuse to believe that which we don’t understand.”  THIS is where the observation of Ben Franklin’s makeover IN REVERSE came into play.

2811977537_e0699089abIf someone has no idea what kindness is, what kindness looks like, no point of reference, how can one recognize it in another? And if we cannot recognize that trait / virtue in another, how can we recognize it within ourselves?   So if we don’t understand it, then we will refuse to believe it exists.

Walter reminded me that we cannot talk to someone about breaking out of jail if they have no idea they are even in jail.  If one does not know what a spider is how can one realize there is a spider in front of them (or right above them as the case may be)?

We are each on our own journey of discovery.  Upon reflection, all I believe I can do for this person is to send them blessings of love as they pass through my orbit.

9 Year Old’s Perspective on Bullying – DoWoo #168/365

As a parent in today’s society I find it distressing the amount of “bullying” which goes on and the number of practices are in place which address this…but to what extent?

Allow me to bring you up to speed on this.  When Gregory was a year old we placed him in a private school day care which was close to our home. When he transferred into grade 1, the same organization had a grade school located at the other end of town which ran up to grade 9 at the time. While it was the same group overseeing the 2 schools the differences were immediately noticed when it came to bullying.

images (20)Gregory was coming home, more often than not, with stories about a particular child who was aggressively acting out towards he and a number of the other children. This particular schools response was to “keep an eye out” for this particular bully but as parents we did not witness much in the way of actively  responding to the matter.

Within 2 months we made the choice to remove Gregory from this private school and place him into the local public school system.   When bullying came up again, we were impressed the school had a specific counsellor who would work with the children (on both sides) and parents of the child who was bullying were brought into the discussion almost immediately.

bullyingGregory is currently participating with a sports club who teaches kids about how to be strong and responsible without negative behaviour.  AND last Friday Gregory graduated from a Karate Kids lunch time program run through the school.  Last week when Gregory was shoved down onto the snow by one of the bullies in the school yard, and then his face was ground into the snow, Walter asked whether he used any of his Karate techniques. He was unable to defend as the perpetrator came up from behind before he knew it and “Karate is not to be used to fight” he responded.

Gregory came to us and said he understood why bullies do what they do.  He explained they are not happy, or they are angry about something, and when they bully someone, for a moment they get a feeling of happiness but then it goes away. Then they feel they have to do it again in order to get that feeling of happiness. That’s why they continue to do it. But they are just unhappy inside.

Walter piped up and said “Bullying Peptides”.

We’ve learned in the Master Key Experience that what we do by habit is feeding the peptides our body craves.  For those who are miserable, they tend to seek out what makes them miserable in order to feel that feeling they are used to – they crave the negative.  It’s like the book about quitting smoking. Smokers don’t smoke because the like to smoke, they smoke because they want to feel the non-craving feeling which they get when they smoke.

While smoking can be stopped by understanding the feeling of being a non-smoker can come from not smoking – as well as smoking…and we learn we can change our outcome by creating desire for alternate peptides….what do we do about bullies?

images (21)All I know at this moment is my kid gets it, he is a non-bully and he, and his choices in friends, stick up for each other when it happens.

The Master Key Experience is not a magic pill. It is not a self-help solution.  It is not the answer to all your prayers. However, it is what you choose to make it.   We are given the tools to look at ourselves differently, the world differently and to teach our kids how to go forward without some of the misunderstandings we may have.  I for one, am feeling truly blessed today.

If you want to see a change…be the change. It’s totally up to you!

Positive Side of Chaos – DoWoo #163/365

I had a new mantra today.  “I love my chaos!” Getting a house ready to list is a unique experience unto itself.

Today I realized that I have never sold a house using a Realtor.  Now the interesting part is that I have helped hundreds, if not close to a thousand people, buy and sell houses all over North America but I’ve never done this with my house while using a “professional”.  It’s almost like an Obstetrician who has never had a child of their own. When (assuming we are talking about a female doctor) they get pregnant themselves…everything can be perceived differently.

For someone who once led a group of relocation real estate counselors in various locations around North America…this is a new experience – always a good thing even if it does involve some chaos (I’ll circle back to that shortly).  I’ve only owned 2 homes. The first I purchased in my late 20s with my mom as our real estate agent. When I sold that house I did it privately as by that point I had 5 years of real estate counselling under my belt and figured I knew enough. Ha!!

Then I purchased this house from my brother – privately – and my brother purchased our mom’s house – privately – and she built (I got to help with the architectural design changes!).  By then my mom was mostly retired from real estate but between us we got all the paperwork done the way it needed to be be done.

So…now we’re selling and we’ve selected this very experienced team who are well versed in the area, know what the market is currently doing and have counselled us accordingly.  I’m doing my utmost to be a reasonable person and avoid being one of ‘those’ people.  You know the type…they are experienced in the field so think they know everything and don’t really listen using their experience because now it’s THEIR house we’re talking about and…well, they become an agents worst nightmare.

originalSo…everything they’ve told us is advice I am fully aware of (and most of it I’ve given)…but now I need to TAKE it!   In the words I chose to share with our son – I need to suck it up!

Hence the CHAOS!

I’m not complaining in any way nor am I implying the team told us we had to do any of these things. They did however explain (again logic and totally understood factors based upon my experience) that if we wish to maximize the market appeal, and therefore increase the value of our home, there were things we could do.

how-to-declutter-choices-collageWe knew we needed to “declutter” (one of those fun real estate buzz words which means get rid of all your personal crap). BUT removing 50% of the furniture in the house was a bit unexpected.  I get it though. Their phrase “less is more” is true.  You do NOT need to have a piece of furniture on every wall. Unfortunately we did!

Picture6We knew we may need to “neutralize” the decor (again another buzz word for paint rooms something which does not stand out – allowing most people to like what you have). HOWEVER I did not anticipate painting the entire house.  Totally our choice as there were a few rooms we had originally agreed did not need to be painted but they did warn us that they may stick out – which they did.  So to coin another phrase “in for a penny, in for a pound”.  It makes the entire house fresh, bright and neutral and will maximize buyer appeal.

We now have a crawl space full of furniture and stuff; mostly not sorted as timing is now and sorting to move with only a small amount of stuff takes time.  We have some of our rooms starting to take shape but it’s still a bit upside down and 2 more rooms to paint before we can start finalizing the furniture placement. My office was my kitchen table today…which on the positive side allowed for a change of scenery and first dibs on the banana bread when it came out of the oven.   There is ALWAYS a positive side!

This would be the Law of Substitution.

The Law of Substitution is just one of the aspects covered in the
