Was speaking to a colleague of mine earlier this week and was reminded of a conversation I had with one of her team. I was on assignment, in the capacity of what I called a “plug and play VP”, for 14 months when one of the young ladies in the department looked at me and said “It’s not possible”. I asked her what wasn’t possible. “You…being in such a positive frame of mind all the time.”
The response I used then is very similar to an analogy I used this evening when conversing with someone about thriving rather than surviving.
I explained: “We all have 2 choices in the morning – we can be happy or sad. When crap happens – because it can and does – it’s all in how you look at it. I consider it to be a small speed bump in the parking lot of life. I may run over a few when I stop to refill the gas tank – but once I’m back on the freeway – there are no speed bumps there!! “
