Choose Happy – DoWoo #152/365

Was speaking to a colleague today about our journey – in that we have less than 145 days until we are to be living in Costa Rica. She commented that we had “balls” to make such a change and so many people would like to do what we are doing but so few actually do.

Why is that?

Why are people not following their bliss? Living their dreams? Taking giant risks which will allow for an equal or greater return?

Always_Dreaming_by_B1nd1-660x320

I’ve always thought it was because they just didn’t have the gumption or the financial wherewithal to do so. While this may be the case, I’ve learned something even more profound – and sad at the same time – many people do not have a dream to set their sites on.

Interestingly in typing what I just did…I recalled our “Loud Smiles” main landing page…so I flipped over and read what I wrote over 8 years ago:

Our Parents taught us the basics of life and structure of family dynamics.
School taught us to learn, apply, memorize and reiterate to obtain graduating grades.
Higher Education expanded our knowledge, the goal to provide a “career”.
Work provided compensation for our time, in exchange for vacation and benefits.

BUT

Who taught us to dream?
spacerHow to envision what we really want out of life?
spacerTo question what we plan to offer life in return?
spacerHow to make our dreams a reality?
spacerHow to ensure our kids have the chance to dream?

lucidityThis was prior to The Master Key class which expanded my thinking.  Before I understood the true power of our mind.  Prior to recognizing my world without (my external reality) is a direct reflection of my world within (my internal reality).

I originally wrote this landing page with the intent to inspire others to think outside of their ‘proverbial’ box, keep an open mind so they too could reach their dreams – ultimately leading them to our network marketing concept. Upon reflection this evening I realize I may have wrote this for a different vehicle – the Master Key Experience.   I just did not know it at the time but it is possible the Universe conspired to provide me an opportunity to experience what I needed in order to fulfill my words – providing me with the tools to understand so I could then reach out to others, allowing them to benefit from this knowledge.

How far back do the connections and re-directions go which created what we now have in front of us – whatever we imagined fulfilled? Was it when I was 9 and wished upon the first star at night asking for happiness? Was it when I was 14 and started to consider what I wanted to do for a living…and all I could think of was that it did not matter,as long as I was happy? Today, I am of a similar bent, and it’s still all about being happy.

I now know – all I have to do to be happy, is choose happy!

Imagine teaching our kids that lesson now?
First…we need to embrace it ourselves.

Hormones or Age? – DoWoo#150/365

I observed today that when one is focused on getting something done, one can accomplish a lot.  However, when one is not as focused, or possibly experiencing some after effects of the grieving process, then one’s ability to function at their full speed may be affected.

I remember when I was about half way through my pregnancy,  one of the HR trainers came down to talk to me about the new people we had hired for my team, they spoke to me for about 10 minutes…I was paying attention – truly I was – but then as she was leaving she commented she would send me a note about what we spoke about. She later explained to me that she could see it going right through me – hence why she sent me the note.

definition of pregnancy

I too found a difference in my ability to retain information. Prior to pregnancy I was one of those people who could remember what someone said and who was in the room from a year ago. I was organized. I was efficient. But once I was pregnant all that seemed to seep out of me…I ended up with notes to remind myself on basically everything.

I still make lists.  I set reminders. I even have alarms for my reminders. I understood why this was happening when it was hormonal but now….Is this age?  Anyone have an answer to that?  Anyone?

So…back to operating at less than full speed…one of my siblings sent a set of snap shots of posters from the hospice where our mom is currently.  One of them was “The Grieving Person’s Bill of Rights“.  What a timely tool.  A few things which stood out for me.

beauty girl cryYou have the right to experience your own unique grief. No one else will grieve in exactly the same way you do.  In Scroll IV OG says “None that came before, none that live today, and none that come tomorrow can walk and talk and move and think (and grieve) exactly like me.”

You have the right to feel a multitude of emotions. Confusion, disorientation, fear, guilt and relief are just a few of the emotions you might feel as part of your grief journey.  And You have the right to be tolerant of your physical and emotional limits. Your feelings of loss and sadness will probably leave you feeling fatigued.  Respect what your body and mind are telling you.

Finally ending with Remember, grief is a process, not an event. Be patient and tolerant with yourself.

Remember back to Kindness week I observed (or was it an opinion?) along with being kind to others, we must remember to be kind to ourselves.  This includes being patient and tolerant with ourselves too.  Maybe this is why I am challenged with being patient and tolerant of others…I’m not patient and tolerant with myself. Hmmm….more things to consider.

Go Together – DoWoo #149/365

Managed to get up and get out to walk the dog something which I have not done lately – I’m really truly not a winter person. Then when Gregory got up I encouraged him to stay home today as he had a runny nose for the last few days and was a real trooper throughout the visitation and funeral. He has tubing with the Cub Scouts tomorrow and I want him feeling 100%.  Then I worked through the day productively. My Franklin Makeover Virtue for this week is “persistence”.  Yup…did that.

This evening I decided to shut down.  Went and chilled in front of the fire with Walter, the dog at our feet and a movie – The Good Lie.

THESE kids were the epitome of persistence…and courage, self control, initiative, kindness, enthusiasm, decisiveness and they saw God in others…in all things.  These kids did not travel almost 1,000 miles through the desert on auto pilot. They did it with a burning desire to survive together!  If you want to watch a classic Hero’s Journey watch this.

“I concentrate my energy on the challenge of the moment and my actions help me forget all else.”  and “I have been given eyes to see and a mind to think and now I know a great secret of life for I perceive, at last, that all my problems, discouragements, and heartaches are, in truth, great opportunities in disguise.”   – Og Mandino

At the end, just before the credits, there is an amazing African Proverb: “If you want to go fast; go alone. If you want to go far; go together.”   Now…think on this for a moment…what could this pertain to in our daily lives?

Choose What Emotion You Attach – DoWoo #145/365

embrace-your-emotionsIn the Master Key Experience we are taught you are able to choose what emotion / feeling you attach to a thought and THEN you can choose your thoughts. While I know this in theory and I’ve seen inklings of this peeping through our lives since we immersed ourselves in this class, not until today did I really witness it, think it and feel it.

Walter is such an amazing man. That is a true shout out.  We had discussed how we would deal with the situation of either of our parents passing and while we came up with what we anticipated we would do, how we would react…you just never know till you are actually in the situation itself.   This is when your choices become your reality.  He rocked this.  He explained he is sad and recognizes he will miss her. However, he is happy she is no longer in pain and has moved on. The gathering which will happen in a few days time, to honour his mom, is a celebration of her life.  Here! Here!

We explained to Gregory this evening that his grandmother was no longer with us in her body but her spirit was free to move on.  There was a bit more discussion and then we explained it was OK to feel whatever he was feeling.  It’s all part of someone no longer being with us.  But we also explained we choose to remember all the amazing moments we spent together. We encouraged him to feel comfortable in voicing how he was feeling at any time throughout the next few days as he may experience new things and we can help him understand.

sadnessHe said that he was feeling something in his chest but not in his throat or in his tummy like when he is excited to go to school.  Then later he explained he had an all over sad feeling, still in his chest, a bit in his tummy, some in his throat and his face – not tears but dampness.

So…here is my little man who when he started having what may have been anxiety about going to school (not all of the kids are kind) we had encouraged him to label that feeling as excitement.  In referencing this body reaction and feeling and attaching a label to it of something positive rather than negative, he has adopted that understanding.  He was then able to articulate that it was different than other emotions and then when his body changed, he recognized it again.

Now some people tease me about how I try to turn phrases and situations into positive things. While I do, and I would love to encourage our son to have a similar outlook, there is a time and space for everything. And sometimes you have to feel sad in order to more thoroughly appreciate feeling happy.

This is new to us all.  We are making our way through it.  We have chosen to celebrate and rejoice and that feels good. What other option do we have?

If you are unsure of your answer. Or you believe there is an option. Or you agree with our outlook. Then the Master Key Class is something which may be of interest to you.  If you would like to receive more information on the next class, please provide your details below.  I will make sure you are one of the first in the world to know. IMAGINE being in a calmer, more kinder and gentler space for yourself.

This is a man… – DoWoo #143/365

“We are drowning in information, while starving for wisdom. The world henceforth will be run by synthesizers, people able to put together the right information at the right time, think critically about it, and make important choices wisely.”  E. O. Wilson

alignedA man I aspire to be more aligned with as a human being was speaking on a web-call I was on this evening.  He shared the first sentence of the above quote.  I wrote it down. I had not heard this quote…or if I had, I had not retained having heard it.  It resonated with me though this evening. Then when I searched who had said it, I found the balance of the quote.  How appropriate.

neuschwanstein_bildI looked at this man…really looked at him as a whole, not just in the moment, and I saw a man with a vision. He was someone who knows family is his core base, has chosen to build a massive castle…with the interesting part is the castle he’s building is for everyone else to live in.

This is a man who understands his energetic footprint and has chosen to share the tools he has developed to implement vision…not just towards the objective of his own vision…but share so that anyone can grasp their dream into existence.

This is a man who originally reflected back to me a message to step it up and be true to myself. This reflection is now something I can hold up for myself.  This man has inspired me to recognize and accept what I see in the mirror without judgment (still working on this last one).

john wooden quoteThis is a man who is changing the world for the better.  Not just “one small bite at a time” for that elephant in the room, we are ALL taking one small bite with him. And the next thing you know…poof, the elephant is gone!  We’ll leave the giraffe alone (inside joke for those who know him – and if you don’t get it – watch this).

Haanel, Picasso & Minecraft? – DoWoo #142/365

During my read of the Master Keys Week 17 (Charles Haanel) this morning the end quote struck me more than it has previously “Thought is the property of those only who can entertain it.” Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Stay with me here!

indy.jpegWe have recently started watching the series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.  The show follows a young Indy who experiences adventures around the world, with the current show centered around a young boy about our son’s age.  Adventures are right in line with Greg’s preferences – and as a bonus for us parents, they typically include some form of life lesson for the young viewer to learn from (which is every parent’s joy when watching a show with your impressionable child – right?).

2249290310_895d7943d7_oThe 2nd episode we watched had Indy and his friend (a young Norman Rockwell) traversing the streets of Paris during the period of Degas and Picasso.  A follower of the artist explained Picasso’s style of painting was called “Cubism” where “all form can be broken down into cubes”. Wiki references “In Cubist artwork, objects are analyzed, broken up and reassembled in an abstracted form—instead of depicting objects from one viewpoint, the artist depicts the subject from a multitude of viewpoints to represent the subject in a greater context.”

Pablo Picasso was roaming the streets of Paris during the early 20th century. Charles Haanel published The Master Key System in 1912.  Coincidence?

Master Key 17:32 “This is because the Spirit of a thing is the thing itself, the vital part of it, the real substance. The form is simply the outward manifestation of the spiritual activity within.”

Now, jump a 100 years into our current time and consider what our young men are creating with: Minecraft – a world made up of small squares – cubes – everything is cubes!   And don’t forget everything you are looking at here – on your screen – are made up of pixels – little tiny cubes.

I wonder…what would Picasso have made of/with Minecraft?

“No Comprendo” – DoWoo #141/365

In pondering my observations of and from today, three areas strike me as being interwoven:

  1. Borromean_Rings_IllusionBe kind to myself – we just wrapped up a week of kindness within the Master Key Experience and one of the themes which kept cropping up at my end was needing to kind to oneself – truly allowing yourself to receive unconditional kindness from yourself and those who wish to offer it, so you may have more of yourself to offer, more kindness to give to those who need it.
  2. I give myself permission to… – this is the phrase Mark asked us to write down and finish during yesterdays’ Week 17 session.  I wrote down “I give myself permission to say and do what I believe to be true without second guessing and self reassessment.”
  3. Decisiveness – is my virtue I am to concentrate on this week within the Franklin Makeover. Recognizing it in others and myself.

So…in the rhythm of recognizing the signs of abundance being offered to me…recognizing all interactions are put in front of me to encourage my understanding of something I am to learn or comprehend…when I put these 3 aspects together I get: Be kind to myself by giving myself permission to embrace my decisiveness.  Pretty powerful sentence from where I’m sitting.

Today I recognized and became frustrated with someone else, based upon my perception they lacked motivation to change their circumstance and preferred to wallow and complain. Interestingly this is the same person who was one of the catalysts which spurned this DoWoo movement of mine.  After all that I have learnt through my realignment journey, I recognize this is a reflection of me to me.  It’s not about her.  She IS doing something about it, AND she is doing the best she can with what she knows and what she has at her disposal.  Anything else is an opinion…which does not belong here.

Since it’s not her, then I have to ask what am I frustrated with myself about? The answer rings loudly – I am frustrated at my inability to allow myself to be myself without having unrealistic expectations of myself.   Walter has explained for years that I am my hardest critic.  I know this philosophy and recognize that I need to let it go…but when I’m in the middle of it, I find it a challenge to truly embrace that this is possible.

As of TODAY I decisively give myself permission to be kind to myself and in so doing, I am able to be kinder to others.

Out of this discussion about this particular person’s complaint, and my “old blueprint” reaction ending with a ‘new blueprint” analysis…came an interesting thought: Walter asked me to consider that once we are in Costa Rica, until we understand Spanish, the locals could be shouting out in a good way or complaining wholeheartedly about something and we won’t be able to comprehend the difference!

Got a Hug? Anybody?? – DoWoo #136/365

1339573ddd366d_6f2c264d60a_oOK…so I need a hug!

I called a friend this afternoon and announced I needed a hug! She sent me a whopper over the phone lines – sound and all.  I admit I am in what feels like a very vulnerable space and there is a part of me which associates this space with needing to be hugged.  Why is that?

hugs_007Mark J wrote today about “Kindness is the key to the hug“.  This week we have been tasked with recognizing kindness in others and ourselves; offering kindness to others without any expectation of reciprocity and better yet, getting out there and doing RANDOM acts of kindness – allowing ourselves to rejoice in the act itself, knowing there will be no outside appreciation of, or for, our actions.

rak8I started this week off by suggesting to our team to remember to “be kind to yourself”.  I reasoned the same way one cannot love others without loving ourselves – how can we be kind to others if we are not kind to ourselves?   THEN we take it a step further by RECOGNIZING in others virtues we wish to enhance and grow within ourselves….ultimately realizing that which we seek was within us all along.

give_yourself_a_hug-277x300So getting back to the hug I said I needed.  If kindness is within me, and kindness is the key to the hug, then I should be able to hug myself…right?

It may not be the hug…possibly more about what that hug creates within us which radiates outward. Acts of kindness can create a chain reaction of kindness throughout our world, spreading a feeling of joy and abundance.  A hug given and received creates a unique kind of energy transfer, and since energy does not diminish it only transfers and continues to transfer, the chain reaction of the energy hug could possibly reach beyond what we know as our world.

I feel like I just gave myself a great big hug filled with all sorts of positive energy.  You?

Stars Aligned…or Was it the Balls? – DoWoo #134/365

team-sport_1_0Not sure if these are specific developmental “opportunities” which are more prevalent when a child has no siblings but Walter and I have noticed a few areas where Gregory could benefit from some improved “team” interaction.  We discussed this just the other day. I thought…hmmm it’s the middle of winter…how do we get him involved in soccer (he loves) during winter..and then just last week he had tried out for the basketball team at school.

Today he comes home with his agenda and brings it into the office handing it to me with a yellow flyer on top which says “Free Basketball and Soccer One-Day Clinic”. Timing? The stars aligning? Or did we ‘Key’ this request?

In reading this I was amazed at how they have positioned themselves DARE to LOVE Sports Club.

dare“Our mission is to teach, inspire and encourage (TIE) our community to promote DARE: discipline, attitude, respect and effort through the spirit of sport; and encourage players to show LOVE at home: listen, obey and volunteer every day. DARE to LOVE.

We produce good athletes and great citizens.

We DARE. We LOVE. We TIE it altogether through sport. We DARE you to do the same.”

stars-alignSo not only did the stars align, the balls aligned with an environment inline with all that we aspire to inspire at home.  What an amazing promotional set of acronyms.  Not sure…I believe that may have been an opinion. OK – allow me to rephrase.  Through the use of a clever set of acronyms this club created a brand which is appealing to me.

On tonight’s Digital Call for the Master Key we were honoured to have a powerful speaker share her story and provide social media guidance based upon her years of experience: Andrea Waltz. One of the areas which peaked my interest was her comment about ‘branding’. Walter and I chose “Loud Smiles” as the name of our Piano Bar about 10 years ago but since then everything remotely associated with creating our dream has been Loud Smiled, sometimes with our tag line twist of “We smile loudly!”  In considering these 3 acronyms I believe we could adopt some of their philosophies to our progression.

Thank you for stopping by.  Remember to be KIND to yourself today!

KEEP INSPIRING NEW DEVELOPMENTS within!

kind to you

5 Time’s a Charm – DoWoo #133/365

Today it is not about what to write about but more which aspect of today to write about. YEAH!

images (11)Would it be about the fact that my almost 1/2 century body rebelled after I decided to join the kids going down the snow hill on a crazy carpet?  Or would it be about the kindness (our virtue for this weeks’ Franklin Makeover) exhibited by the other parent at the top of the hill when he offered to let my 2 charges go down on his fantastic sled? Or would it be about my son commenting at the dinner table we need to translate “I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy!” into Spanish for when we are living in Costa Rica?

Today was a day filled with numerous opportunities to observe without opinion but the start was the most challenging.  I’m sure someone out there may relate…

After my morning routine I opened up my laptop and typed in my Microsoft Password – to which it promptly told me it was incorrect.  I checked my caps lock, my #s and then tried again. OK…still not ‘correct’. I tried an alternative password thinking maybe I changed something online or Walter changed something when we got the new Microsoft Office package earlier this week. I even did what every good IT support person tells you to do when all else fails, I restarted my computer. All with no success.

password is incorrect[4]I called our IT people. Thank goodness for 24-7 support. They said I would need to log onto the Microsoft site through another source and update my password. BUT when I did this using the message noted on my screen, this site did not exist.  Another call to IT support to get the correct site.  Tried it on Walter’s computer – this site does not exist! Turns out our internet was unstable. Tried it on my phone, using my carrier’s access not my WiFi, and was able to change it.

business-it-supportI logged on to my laptop using the new password and it still said incorrect.  I waited a few more minutes (figuring there may be a slight delay) and typed the new password again. SUCCESS!! Then called IT Support again.  I asked them to complete a system diagnostic to see what was going on – as I had not changed my password – so maybe there was something intrusive which had attached itself to my system. IT started doing this and then got kicked out because the internet went down. They tried to call me on my cell but I had forgotten to turn on my sound for the day!

When I came back to my office and found the message on my phone and my screen locked without internet.  I ended up having to restart my computer to get the internet connection again.  When I logging in using my new password I was told it was incorrect.

serioud

Went through the whole new password reset with Microsoft. Called IT Support again (anyone keeping count?) and when I got connected, I was immediately disconnected.  Called in again and finally got someone to link up and review my computer. YEAH!

download (6)This was not my observation…it was Walters.  He turned to me and said he was impressed. Why? Not too long ago, he explained, I would have thrown up my hands and arms in frustration and asked him to deal with IT Support.  I would not have even made the first call let alone 5.  He was correct – I have come a long way.  It’s still a journey though….as I’m nowhere near where I want to be.  However, today I realized I am certainly well on the road to being the me I envision.

In the Flow & Taking Initiative – DoWoo #127/365

k12064258Had a wonderfully fulfilling day. Got 1 full bin packed of Christmas stuff which we are keeping and 3 bins of stuff to garage sale, give away or donation. No questions on most stuff with only the odd discussion with Walter to confirm keep or give. Managed to clear out the dining room cabinets of all the oddities. Had already called my brother about our grandmother’s mantel clock and I will drop it off on Wednesday.

20150105_171417$_20Walter and I discussed the antique book shelf I have had since I moved out of my parents place many many years ago. I don’t recall when this book shelf arrived in our household but I know we had it since before I was 9 – and it may have been around a lot longer than that. We can’t take it with us as the wood would not survive the climate and Greg would most likely not want it as a pass down. So I went on line and started researching what the possible value could be.  THEN I narrowed my search by adding in our location and low and behold there was someone looking for exactly what we have – they even had a picture of what they were looking for and it matched our bookcase – right down to the markings on the metal straps on the side.

I LOVE HOW THE UNIVERSE PROVIDES!

I’ve sent off the picture to the interested party with an estimate of what we would like to ask for it.  They responded asking for more pictures.  I have faith in the flow!

UPDATE: 2 days later, we agreed on a price and money exchanged hands to solidify the deal! I love how when you “key” something with the lessons from the Master Key Experience amazing results take place.

flow-1i8gl86It is a very interesting thing…this going with the flow. It allows you to observe more…which as you know is part and parcel of why I’m doing this 365 day journey.  I was speaking with a friend of mine yesterday and she mentioned all the “ah ha” moments she has read about.  Upon reflection this evening I realize that is indeed the purpose and benefit of reflection!

If one does not take time to consider what one is doing…how can one change how one interacts, acts and responds to their external world.  Walter commented this evening that he was appreciative of my response when I was in the heat of the #CBHF, allowing him to redirect me to where he believed I needed to go, providing me with the tools I needed to embrace.  I thanked him for his appreciation and for persevering through my #CBHF!

Volunteer. This week our assignment within the Master Key is to consider how we have witnessed certain virtues. I am concentrating on witnessing “Taking Initiative”.  I did this today…more than a few times – including offering an ergonomic alteration for Walter’s desk to help with neck strain, reaching out to people I have not spoken to in ages through Linked-In, accepted a request to connect with someone I have been estranged from for over a year, the above situation with the bookcase.  Gregory also participated by choosing to set his alarm earlier than usual so he could get ready for school before we did our morning workout.   My friend within the Digital Connections rocked her involvement and presentation material this evening – creating a solid learning tool for the entire class.

Today was a blessed day! I am most grateful.

Sugar Plums with Wine? – DoWoo #123/365

37528_0652383227286 Sugar+Plums+01Was putting away the champagne and wine glasses from our New Years celebration and asked Gregory to bring them back out to the dining room so I could put them away. As they are crystal I asked him carry only two at a time.  However, as my little man loves to make music, he still managed to clink them all the way there each trip.

I explained to him my reasoning for asking him to only carry two at time and why we would prefer his caution – in that crystal glasses are more easily broken than regular glass. That’s when I remembered what else crystal glasses do that make them so unique.

They can SING!

We brought one back out to the kitchen and I filled partially with water and showed him how it sings. He then tried it himself and asked how. While I know it works – I’m not sure how – so…(you guessed it!) we “googled” it.   What we found was really cool!

The Mechanics (I had no idea – but now I do):

  • The principle at work here is a “slip-stick” form of friction. It is also called “dry-damping.” When the fingertip circles the rim of the glass, it excites the glass molecules. They follow the motion of the finger around the glass, in effect “stretching” in the direction of the moving finger. The frictional force is high as the molecules stretch.
  • The elastic forces within the glass pull the molecules back into place, but because of inertia they overshoot and go too far. At this point, the molecules are moving in the opposite direction of the finger. The frictional force is low. The stretching and returning action of the molecules becomes a cycle. An imbalance in the frictional forces is created, causing the vibration that makes the sound.
  • This illustrates the fundamental natural frequency of the glass. Different glasses have different frequencies, which depend on factors such as the size of the glass, the position of the glass and the volume of liquid in the glass.
  • Regular glass is “soft” glass. It has high internal friction (molecular) so that sound waves produce a dull sound. Crystal contains lead, which makes it “harder,” with very little internal molecular friction: molecules are freer to follow the fingertip. This creates the clearer sound in crystal.
  • Regular glass can make a rim sound, although with more difficulty, and the tone has less quality.

What was even better than the description on how and why was finding videos on people creating amazing sound using these techniques. Here’s my favourite of the day….

Just think: wine glasses + water +a wet finger + friction = beautiful ethereal music.  What else do we have so easily at our finger tips which could create something totally different than what we currently use it for?

REMEMBER: If we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.

Bins & Our Counsel – DoWoo #122/365

33-13We are now 1/3 of the way to my promise of 365 daily blogs. I know we celebrated at the 1/4 mark but 1/3 is still a bit of a WOW!

2014-12-31 18.28.50And in honour of the 1/3 mark, we went out and splurged on bins for our relocation. 38 bins to be exact – with various colours so we can arrange what we take with us and store by the exterior of the bin. Walter was only able to bring home 10 in the mustang. When we went back I did not truly anticipate how to fit the rest into the Nissan but we managed – including Gregory (look for the hand) in the back seat.  He was actually buckled in!

We have decided on the balance of our Board of Directors – our Mastermind – our Loud Smiles International “invisible counsel”.  So in addition to Walter, myself and Gregory we have:

jeanne

Jeanne Cooper:  A very dear friend who passed last year. She was a no BS, straight shooter who loved all 3 of us and is the reason we have our rescue dog Mya.

deepak

Deepak Chopra: A soul who has inspired and continues to inspire both of us in his teachings. The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success is a constant in our daily readings and I am inspired to help our son live these laws to their fullest – teaching others along the way.

Wayne-Dyer

Wayne Dyer: A gentleman whose words have altered how we look at life and ourselves, a man who helped to shape Walter many years ago and has helped us both to create an environment where our son true light can shine.

Mark-Januszewski.-Worlds-Laziest-Networker

Mark Januszewski: A man who is near and dear to us all (Gregory will always say it “en-THU-siasm”), whose Master Key course has inspired me to write and create this vision for change, who keep us both true to ourselves by reminding us what is important, he understands our limitations and revels in our abilities.

ken

Ken Varga: A long time mentor and friend of Walter who is a is a self-created, big thinker with a forceful mind, he lives the philosophy of give more get more, and is a huge supporter of our piano bar vision…I know he will be one of our first patrons in Costa Rica (if he can get off that Aruba island long enough!).

We have the counsel, our mastermind – and we have 38 coloured bins to commence sorting and packing.  Our journey is upon us.

All good and prosperous things are happening in 2015.

We send blessings of abundance for all you envision for yourself and your family.

Sandwich Reflection – DoWoo #112/365

If you’ve stuck with me you will have heard reference to Walter and my parent’s recent health concerns.  I’m one of many they call the “sandwich generation” – where we are parents with our children who we are caring for and we are children to our aging parents for whom we care for.   Interestingly as I am the youngest of my siblings – the rest have mostly grown kids or already grandparents with our aging mother.  I wonder…does that make them a triple decker sandwich?

As it was not too long ago I was taking care of our little man, I started pondering the similarities of the newborn to our aged elderly parents.  Please feel free to add to this list in the comment section below:

  • Life_2d8fa7_550894without teeth
  • eating liquids, slowly moving towards solids
  • having little to no hair, only the rare one has the full head
  • no control of our bodily functions
  • sleeping a lot!
  • spending most of the time laying around in bed while others take care of our needs

We start with a date. We end with a date.  The middle is referred to as our “dash”.  What we do in the middle – between birth and death is who we were in this life.

In considering this and so many other thoughts of a similar nature today I came across this list by Bronnie Ware – a palliative care nurse who polled her patients responses in their last days in hopes to uncover any regrets so others may learn.

15e236dTop 10 Regrets Of The Dying

  1. I never pursued my dreams and aspirations.
  2. I worked too much and never made time for my family.
  3. I should have made more time for my friends.
  4. I should have said ‘I love you’ a lot more.
  5. I should have spoken my mind instead of holding back and resenting things.
  6. I should have been the bigger person and resolved my problems.
  7. I wish I had children.
  8. I should have saved more money for my retirement.
  9. Not having the courage to live truthfully.
  10. Happiness is a Choice, I wish I knew that earlier.

Thank goodness for the Master Key Class.  It allows us to address all of the above! Onward my friends. We hold the greatest gift in our hands. Let’s maximize the Experience!!!

Staying True – DoWoo #109/365

We are on day 3 of no internet and we have survived!!

Within the last 3 weeks we have had a variety of interesting technical challenges arise.  My laptop keyboard got stuck on the semi-colon and right in the middle of me typing something (external keyboard for ergonomic reasons) the main keyboard would lock ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; until I manually shut down the computer, my computer would not registering at the internet café but my phone did, my headset would work on my phone my not my companion app, and our internet was disconnected (in error) on Tuesday morning and won’t be reinstated till Saturday! AND…..Both Walter’s mom and my mom’s health…well, not so good.

They” say that whenever something happens in your life it is like someone is holding up the mirror for you to take a good look at yourself, to help you learn something, recognize something about yourself or your life so you can learn from it.  Do you ever wonder who “they” are because they certainly have a LOT to say?

SO….WHAT am I supposed to learn from ALL this?

After pondering the depth of each of these areas, my answer (so far – as things do tend to unfold further and may show me more at a later date) is that we must embrace patience, we are to recognize what is truly important without getting freaked out, and we need to be able to roll with the situation – finding alternatives to get it done – and above all else….we must remain true to our self.

Wrote a very interesting email to my siblings this evening and even though I called and discussed it first with my one sibling, I knew my words were true and no matter what feedback I received, I was comfortable in sending it out – which I did.

We are all on a journey of self-discovery.  We may not ever truly know how we made out till we’re done (assuming there is a summary or review with one’s higher power – or we come back again with a different set of lessons to learn assuming reincarnation – or…well, you get the idea).   BUT at the end of the day THIS is our journey and we need to remain true to our self.

I realize these challenges are merely speed bumps and since I’m on the right road, I just need to keep on keeping on and I’ll be just peachy fine.

I stayed true today.

How did you make out?

Who Are You Being With Your Words – DoWoo #106/365

To be or not to be...is that the question?? I know I’ve used this sentence before but today it is a question inline with how I am feeling.  What AM I “being” today?

I am reminded of the 3 questions Deepak Chopra suggests you ask yourself each day, then sit for (at minimum) 5 minutes with these questions fresh in your mind, then immediately upon completion of your sit write down whatever came to mind. These 3 questions are:

443017297_640Who am I?

What do I want for my life?

What do I want from my life today?

In the Master Key Experience we are encouraged to stay away from the word “want” as it just encourages your mind to create more want.  I pondered this for some time and realized the word “want” could be considered reasonable within the context of these questions.  It is when you are answering these questions where you should avoid its use.

As an example – let’s work with the 2nd question “What do I want for my life?” The answer for me would be: “I want to live in Costa Rica with my family. I want each day to be filled with love and laughter. I want to live a simplistic life where what matters is how we are able to serve others.” If i were to repeat the above answer with the word “want” included – I would in essence be telling my subconscious mind to concentrate on wanting these things – hence creating more want in my life.

gothsensTHIS is where we must remove the action of “want” from our answer and be conscious of the the words we have used to create the vision.  As Haanel tells us words are the “highest form of architecture in civilization“.  So…we remove ‘want’ (or desire, aspire, wish, crave – all the words which are pre-action to the results we aim to obtain) and rearrange the words to paint my vision as it truly exists now.  This way when I repeat my answer I live it now AND my subconscious can get to work on creating my future reality as it already exists in my words.  My answer could now read:

“I live in Costa Rica with my family, thoroughly enjoying days filled with love and laughter, living simply knowing I serve others daily.

It still needs work.  My vision needs to be SMART – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timed – including feelings which get you pumped!

“On or before January 1st, 2016 I live in Costa Rica with Walter, Gregory and Serafina, ecstatically embracing and thoroughly enjoying each day filled with an abundance of love and laughter. Through our multiple streams of income, amounting to $10,000 per month on or before June 25, 2015, I live comfortably and simply while enthusiastically providing service to others within my community and around the globe.”

I am blessed to have my vision within me. I am blessed to be able to express my vision. I am blessed knowing vision is reality.  I am being who I am meant to be!  Thank you for allowing me to share.

The “Key” Affirmation – DoWoo #89/365

The_Master_Key_SystemA year ago I was on the Master Keys Journey for the first time – now I am one of the Guides being available to support this years members so they may embrace the teachings incorporated within this Master Keys Experience.

As Guides – we’ve “been there and done that” but one of our tasks is we are not to foreshadow any of the nifty things which are going to come about.  Allowing each member to experience this for themselves.  This truly is a self-discovery class.

That said, I’ve been patiently (truly) waiting on this week 9 to arrive so I could share this again. The phrase and it’s corresponding benefits really truly resonate with me – I reflect on it – I use it – consistently.   I had a business card holder engraved with the phrase from this week so that I am constantly in touch with it and reminded of the verbiage.

A few months ago I was doodling and came up with a correlating drawing of what this means to me.  It’s what I’m currently using as my Picture on Twitter. I’ve included both the Poem I wrote last year and the art work I created to go with it.  Enjoy!

We read, in week 9 of The Master Key System, by Charles F. Haanel, [1919], the most wonderfully fulfilling and all encompassing affirmation.

Haanel states “It cannot be improved upon.”  Frederick Andrews offered “Not only did I affirm it for myself, but for others that I knew needed it.”

I do not try to improve upon – only expand upon it to allow myself to understand what this statement means to me. I offer my writing here, to affirm this for myself and for any whom it resonates for.  Thank you for allowing.  I share it with an abundance of love and blessings to all who read on!

What A Difference a Day Makes – DoWoo #84/365

2014-11-22 14.21.5220141123_102057Greg decided to make a snow man out of the last of the wet snow yesterday.  This morning….well, not so much!

What a difference a day makes!

So many areas of our life could benefit from this perspective.  With many being the reverse of this melted snowman – looking better the following day once you move from the drama of the moment into the reflection that comes after time passes.   All things DO happen for a reason.

Imagine learning how to do this with all aspects of your life?

The “Other” Heart – DoWoo #82/365

poghnvqfk81azzoDo you remember being little and doing whatever you could possibly do to extend going to bed? Not brushing your teeth so you got to get up again. Needing more water. Forgetting to go to the bathroom. Needing to get your night time hug or cuddle in (again!).  Greg seems to be going through this type of routine right now.

bearhugThe other night Greg asked Walter for one more cuddle to which Walter explained that Gregory is always getting a cuddle because he (Walter) is always thinking about Gregory and envisioning the best of everything with lots of love. So he is constantly wrapped in a continuous all-day cuddle of love.

two-hearts1Gregory called out to to Walter as he was leaving the bedroom and said: “There are 2 kinds of hearts.”  Whether this was delay tactic # 642 or not, it was good enough to have Walter walking back into Greg’s room. How is that?   “There is one heart which pumps your blood and another which gives all the love.”   Interesting DoWoo from our 9 year old.

044-upanishads-meditation-on-the-door-keepers-vayu-and-the-heart-chakra1My carryover from Scroll I was:

“As I repeat the words daily  they become a part of my active mind, but more important, they seep into my other mind, that mysterious source, which never sleeps, which creates my dreams and often makes me act in ways I do not comprehend.”

So…if we have 2 minds (the active and the other), we most certainly can have 2 hearts.  We just need to fill the other one with love so it seeps out into the world.

How did you spread love today?

Who’s teaching Whom? – DoWoo #78/365

I love how every day either I am able to personally observe something which resonates or if I don’t, one of my men do!  Greg talks about “dowoo-ing” regularly.  Walter is a close second.

This evening I was just about to get on the Master Key Digital Connections call when Walter bounces into the office – literally vibrating with excitement about something. He then shares the following story.

6e11d5fe9e6a318258292da907963c3914e40f6cHe and Greg were finishing up their dinner while I was getting ready for the call. Greg asked Walter to play Mario Kart. Walter explained that he needed to wrap everything up in the kitchen and then get on the call and…  He then looked at Gregory and said “No. We are going to go play Mario Kart.”

Greg's PhrasesGregory put his fork down on the table, looked straight at his father and solemnly counseled. “Don’t waste your time making your life better: Use what you’ve got already.”  Walter quickly wrote it down to ensure he could share with me.

Upon reflection he turned to Gregory and said “This is the Law of Gratitude. Do you know what it means to be grateful?” No.  So Walter went on to explain that it means to be thankful for what you have. Gregory proceeded to discuss and give personal examples of his understanding of the discussion (something we encourage him to do which has now become second nature). One example was that he does not think about having Wii-U – he has a Wii-Mini and he is grateful he has this.

20141117_190605Gregory explained he had the definition in one of his books.  He ran upstairs and grabbed one of his Geronimo Stilton books “The Volcano of Fire” (These are just about all he reads right now and will rake leaves for hours to earn $ to purchase them.)  He flipped to page 81 where he shows his father the definition of Gratitude.

Both are phenomenal aspects of gratitude to incorporate into one’s life.  I am personally grateful our son appreciates what he has, is able to clearly articulate this aspect of his understanding and belief system and has the ability to associate what he reads to how we are living our life with him.

thank youWhat a beautiful way to wrap up my day.
I am grateful you stopped by and allowed me to share.
