Deep Breath – DoWoo #233/365

breathePartook in quite a number of deep breathing sessions today.  These are significantly more than the heavy sigh I’ve used in the past when things got a bit tenuous.   I found my ability to work with any twist in the road today to be non-existent.  And it’s not even THAT time of the month!

So rather than dwell on what had me embracing this readjustment / realignment technique, I’m going to concentrate on some of the positive observations of the day.

mortIt is possible to find humour to readjust. Currently we are using the “I lo-ove your feet” voice from Mort on King Julian.  It makes me smile just typing it as I can hear it in my head.

Had a wonderful Zoom visit with a friend today. Recounting stories. Sharing news.  Encouraging each other.  Other than we weren’t drinking herbal tea, it was very zen.

Sold some more stuff!!  It’s getting a bit easier to just allow things to go.  The larger items seem to be easier.  I wonder why that is?

There are family members, who no matter what happens, you still care and want to be there for them when they choose they are ready for guidance.   I had removed myself from a good portion of my family and today I had an opportunity to reconnect with the one member who I had always had a special place in my heart for.

piano caseOut of all the piano cases available at Long & McQuade – there was the one with wheels and TSA locks which was on SALE!!! So less than the lesser quality options.  I love it when the Universe takes care of us.

All in all a productively happy day. Anything else which transpired, which is not in the same realm…well, it really doesn’t matter in the whole scheme of things. Released! Readjusted. Deep Breath.

All is good!
Todo es bueno!

Back on Solid Ground – DoWoo #232/365

The last few days have been a bit of a ride (possibly a slight understatement) but the good news is we are now what appears to be a patch of solid ground.  Not sure how large the patch is. Recognize that the ride may take some time.  Rather than fight it, I’m going to thoroughly embrace and allow.  Maybe I should make that into a T-shirt! Hmm…a project for another day.

patch

We officially signed our rental house commitment for the next year in Costa Rica.  At the end of all the reasons lies the final result – we’ve chosen to embrace the opportunity for a solid adjustment period.  It may be beneficial that I used to train on the joys of relocation and possible culture shock.  While I do not have the specific training on what to expect in Costa Rica, I have resources readily at my disposal and as long as I remain open and observant, I believe we will spot any aspects which require a personal realignment.

Interesting…I’m just now recalling an astrological reading I received over 13 years ago. This was pre-Walter.  I was told that by the time I was 52 I was to “hit it big”.  These words had reverberated around in my mind for years.  But I do not recall the last time I thought about this statement and the one that followed.  “Everything you do from now until then may not seem like it is connected. But it is.  You will do something which allows you to use everything you’ve done up till then.  And you hit it big.”

I’m turning 50 this year!  OMG….I know….I know.

Supposedly everything in your life is set up in sets of 7 – and then there are seven sets of 7s. The last is: Reconstruction, adjustment and recuperation (43-49) which leads to harmony . I wrote about this during our first Master Key sessionweek 16 January 18th, 2014 “significant realignment of my psyche – I’m definitely getting there (literally and figuratively) and am tickled beyond measure to be in this stage – embracing what is being offered – have a new dog!”

If selling our house and 95% of what we own, then hopping on a plane to Costa Rica for a year with a 10 year old and a dog is not a significant reconstruction, adjustment AND a recuperation period…well, I don’t know what is.

As of this year – for both of us, we are shifting into a new phase – the beginning year of the next set of 7 years.  Now, I’m not sure exactly what this means as it relates to me being in the 8th set – what happens after the 7th set of 7…I do not recall it saying.  It’s got to be big though!!   At least that’s what I’m going to tell myself!!

Whether it’s from an astrological, spiritual, God gifting, universal rightness perspective…it does not matter. Walter and I are heading into what could possibly be one of the most exciting periods of our lives.  Now THIS is an adventure!

Lesson in Gratitude – DoWoo #231/365

blessingSo many areas of my life in the last few years have referenced the “Attitude of Gratitude“.  I am grateful every day – and that in itself is a huge observation to embrace.

I was invited and went to church today.

The only church I have frequented in the last decade or so has been Walter’s family church. Most of these services have been delivered in Ukrainian so while it’s church – it’s not something I have been able to absorb with any significant attention.

Today I was introduced to a group of caring, welcoming and warm people who openly acknowledged the newcomer in their midst.  I witnessed a wide variety of ways to worship within the group – allowing me to appreciate their individuality – their ability to embrace their belief in a vocal and demonstrative way – with complete acceptance for and from everyone else. This was quite refreshing for me.

encompassingMost of the services I have gone to in my life have been regimented in their delivery and interaction. I must admit my experience is small and restricted to large church organizations.   I realized today that while these past experiences had a large number of people worshiping in a group….I had always remained solitary.   Today felt different – more encompassing.

I had the pleasure of speaking with the pastor’s wife before the service and the pastor afterwards. While their belief was palpable to me – both in the intensity of their words and energy – I remained true to myself without judgement – allowing the time I spent in their presence to be experienced without opinion.

I departed with what I felt to be a blessing of acceptance for who I am and well wishes for my upcoming journey.   My friend gifted me with a bible – suggesting a specific section (John) where she believed I would most benefit from God’s teachings at this time.

gratefulI am grateful someone chose to include me. I am grateful I was able to witness and experience accepted today.  I am grateful I am in a place in my life, in my connection with my source (God), that I was able to allow the experience to be what it was meant to be. What comes of this remains to be revealed.  I am just grateful for the space.

Have I Learned My Lesson Yet? – DoWoo #230/365

larger rollercoasterOut of 229 blogs in 229 days, there have been a few areas of DoWoo which repeated themselves.  However, nothing identical back to back…that is…until TODAY!!

Please read DoWoo #229 to truly understand.

Today, had a bigger roller coaster AND then I fell in the water, in the rain, and was lucky enough an even bigger boat came to save me.   Whew! It was a ride I do not wish to repeat.

I wonder…Have I learned my lesson yet?

We booked our flights today.  Walter went to CAA this morning to check and see which airlines would allow Mya on out of Toronto.  For those of you who don’t who Mya is…she is Gregory’s dog.  He got her for his 8th birthday present.  She is a rescued Belgian Malinois and it would have been an extremely cold day in June if we were not able to take her with us.  Walter went to CAA with the 2 choices of 8 hour flights with only 1 connection – as compared to the rest at 18 to 23+ hour travel times with multiple stops.

CAA advised the only airline who appeared to be able to accommodate her crate would be American Airlines.  The flights we had found were not in sync.  Turns out the cost for 1 ticket on the flight Mya could be on was double compared to the flights we found.  We made a decision – Walter will go with Mya and Gregory and I will follow 8 hours later on a different set of flights!   The good news is I was able to upgrade him to business class for a nominal fee!  Not as we may have preferred but perfectly accommodating nonetheless.

HAPPY DANCE!!
I’ve updated the count down clock with the new date!

arger boatThis is about when I fell out of the boat which saved me yesterday.  But I am blessed.  A good friend, another one of the Master Key Guides, and a truly remarkable woman saved me from myself.  Figuratively flagging down the larger boat and scooping me up into the boat for safe travel.  Thank goodness I’ve had the pleasure of surrounding myself with like minded people who are able to be what I need – including a good kick as required!

I wish to take this opportunity to thank Cassandra for being there for me today!  You are a gem!

Readjust – DoWoo #229/365

roller coasterHave had a roller coaster ride this week while looking for accommodation.  I was waffling on our #1 choice as it was double what we had planned to spend and at the same time it was more than double what we anticipated we would have from an accommodation perspective.  It’s gorgeous and has the best internet we could hope for.

Walter looked at me and shook his head.  He went on to reminded me of the story of the man who ignored the radio message, the boat and the helicopter to save him from the flood, expecting God to save him only to die.  When he is in front of God, he mentions his confusion that God did not indeed save him.  God responded with confusion of his own as he did not understand why the man did not take what he offered – he had sent the radio message, the boat and the helicopter to save the man.

boatWhy would I question what is perfect for us? A great space to transition into another country.  I was waiting for a sign of some sort when the sign was already in the delivery of the fulfillment of my desire.

I may not have listened to the radio message but I did get on the boat. The helicopter has gone to save someone else.

Messages – DoWoo #228/365

51yRKGXt7mL._SL500_AA300_PIaudible,BottomRight,13,73_AA300_Lately I’ve been going to sleep listening to Spiritual Healing by Glenn Harrold: A Guided Meditation to Heal your Mind. It’s been an interesting ride listening to this recording but what I heard (observed) through my absorption of his words the last few nights..this is what I want to share.

“Within this energy field there could be blockages and imprints that hold you back and prevent you from reaching your potential. Repetitive behavioural patterns that you find hard to shake are often caused by blocks in your energy field…and when you heal yourself spiritually, it will naturally follow you will heal yourself physically and emotionally.”

What I “heard” is that it is not our physical body or emotional which needs to listen – it is our spiritual being – or energetic self.  This part of us needs to listen.  We need to be open. We need to be able to understand what is being shared at a cellular level. If we are “blocked”, how can we do any of these things?

Years ago I had a bit of an “aha” where I recognized most of what I was reading had the same message.  It was wrapped up differently, had different analogies or examples, but ultimately the final message was the same.

got itShortly thereafter I had a vision of those who “got it” (whatever “it” was). They were tuned into and listening to one radio station while I was listening to another.  They understood what it took to get to where they were (I just had to reach out and turn the tuning dial) BUT they were unable to show us. We had to figure it out on our own.  I saw them cheering us on, encouraging us to keep going, keep trying, so that eventually we could join them in their understanding.

Recently I keep having thoughts along the same concept. This time though they are not standing on a different plane of existence, they are right here beside me, beside you. They still cannot show us.  They can though do their best to explain it to us.  The challenge…and this is where I believe so many of us may get stuck…is that they can only explain it in THEIR own words, from their perspective AND not everyone is going to understand it that way.

messagedTHIS is why it’s the same message from so many different people. Different books. Different techniques on helping us become aware. Different wrappings and presentations. BUT the bottom line IT is the SAME message.

I imagine it is like learning a different language.  The intent to communicate to us is clear, just the words don’t make much sense.  Now, we may be able to figure out the gist of “it” but until we totally tune in, truly understand the words, we are not able to grasp what is being shared.

What do YOU think the message is?

Spread Happy – DoWoo #227/365

Was sitting here looking at my desk this evening…the craziness of my office…and I almost broke.  I had pulled everything out of all the files and was sorting, organizing, tossing and doing my best to figure out what I really need to keep versus not.  It’s not a pretty sight (truly an observation – not an opinion).

20150415_203012Then I looked down at my desk and saw my happy stickers poking out of the mess…and I smiled.  I was at a business convention a few months ago and they were selling posted notes which are each happy positive statements. The list is pretty amazing.  I typically keep a set in my purse and post them on cash registers or on someones’ lapel or on the inside of the bill fold at restaurants.

Imagine if we all did things like this every day? What would the world look like?

We are in the process of confirming accommodation for Costa Rica and a few of the places are no longer available or do not suit our needs regarding internet. I realize that I am now on the reverse of what we just went through while selling our house.

I recognize there are the perfect units to rent.  We just need to be introduced.  At the other end are the homeowners or property managers who would be ecstatic to have responsible people such as ourselves to rent their property.  I have faith we find each other – we connect – and we both get what we want out of this.   All it takes is an introduction.  We’re open.

In the meantime, each person we connect with deserves our best wishes.  If we are not the right match for them or visa versa, we still trust they find the right people to rent their unit.  With this philosophy in my mind, considering not only our desires but the fulfillment of others, it can only lead to the best of everything. God has a plan and it will be revealed to us in due time.

Life Growth Is Like Driving Shift – DoWoo #226/365

I have a collection of books on my phone which allow me to tap into pretty amazing observations. Sometimes I just need to read the positive and encouraging words of Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Og Mandino, Mike Dooley, James Allen, John Maxwell, Napoleon Hill…need I say more?  The last few days I have taken to re-reading Your Erroneous Zones by Wayne Dyer. This is what I read today:

drive-a-stick-shift“Think back to the time you were learning to drive a stick shift automobile. you were faced with what seemed to be an insurmountable problem. Three pedals but only two feet to make them work.  You first became aware of the complexity of the task. Let the clutch out slow, oops too fast, jerky business, gas pedal down at the same rate as you release the clutch, right foot for the brake, but the clutch must go in, or you jerk again.  A million mental signals: always thinking, using your brain. What do I do? Awareness, and then after thousands of trials, mistakes, new efforts, the day comes when you step into your car and drive away. No stalling, no jerking and no thinking. Driving a stick shift has become second nature, and how did you do it? With great difficulty. Lots of present-moment thinking, reminding, working.”

1984I remember learning stick.  I dated a fellow who let me shift from the passenger side while he worked the clutch – allowing me to get a feel for the concept first. My very first car was standard – a 1984 VW Rabbit. I sat in it and instantly fell in love – this car was mine. I then turned the keys over to the same young man and he test drove it. After I handed over the cash, he drove the car home so he could then teach me how to drive it.  I remember stalling out numerous times before I finally got the car moving in first gear, then driving blocks without shifting out of first for fear of stalling out.   Now…it’s just like Wayne says…effortless, without thinking about it. but it took a lot of mental work to get to this space.

This analogy was noted after Wayne explained that Happiness is a natural condition of being a person. and that New thinking requires awareness of old thinking. You have become habituated in mental patterns that identify the causes of your feelings as outside of yourself. You have put in thousands of hours of reinforcement for such thinking, and your’ll need to balance the scale with thousands of hours of new thinking, thinking that assumes responsibility for your own feelings.”

WOW! Did you get all that?

To break it down into what I understand: I am totally responsible for all my thoughts, my actions and my feelings, and therefore anything which is going on around me…I am responsible for it.  AND if I wish to change it, it may be uncomfortable, challenging, appear awkward, and take numerous attempts, even failed or stalled attempts…but if I persist – and embrace that I am also responsible for my sticktuitiveness – I have an immense opportunity to exceed at my life.

AND that ability is within me right now!  It is also with you!

total responsibility

How powerful is that?

Connectivity in Energy? – DoWoo #225/365

20150413_162130My mom was recently cremated and her urn has been at our place for the last month.  Today one of my sisters picked up the urn to have at her place for the balance of the time until ‘mom’ is interred.

While I know the ashes are not the essence of who my mom was, representation of the ashes in an urn are a reminder to me of her connection to this plane of existence – where the rest of us remain. While each of us morn differently, I have chosen to embrace the philosophy that once our energy is no longer attached to our earthly bodies, we remain as energy. I embrace how our son chose to describe it – that our loved ones are not lost to us, they are still here – just everywhere.

So while I experienced a moment of sadness that mom was leaving us, I wonder whether that is even the case?

Walter and I were talking the other day about what “home” is.  And he commented it is where we hang our hat.  It is not the ‘stuff’ which which makes a space home. So it does not matter that we will no longer have all this ‘stuff’ we’ve collected over our life with us in Costa Rica – as long as we are together, in health and happiness – we are home.

I wonder whether this is similar to death in that we still have mom here with us, in our hearts, and therefore she is at home with us. We do not need her body to have her with us.

images (1)I also believe…since I started out as a microscopic piece of her, and so having been created by her, of her, she remains within me always. Maybe that is why I feel I am being reminded of her love and support. The only thing I cannot do is physcially touch her – but when I close my eyes, I can see her smile.

However, now I’m wondering…since I am energy, and my body will also cease to exist at some point, and she is energy whose body already ceased to exist…if I am able to still connect with her now, why would I not continue to connect even once both our bodies no longer breathe?  And if that is the case, we are always and forever together.

Hmm…Another interesting avenue to ponder further.
Please weigh in.  I’m truly interested.

School Is In – DoWoo #224/365

schoolWe are about 2 months away from embarking on our adventure to live in another country. Since we are planning to supplement local schooling with home schooling, life – the twists and turns we are experiencing and are yet to experience – are ALL learning opportunities readily at our disposal.

We’ve already discussed the difference in costs to run a house with Gregory – why not give him the whole picture? During our 1-1/2 hour car ride today I decided to chat with him about the Cost of Living and generalities of how it works.

There are aspects of our life which are considered “costs”.  Each aspect is calculated using a base:  Housing; Transportation; Taxes; Health Care; Consumables…etc.  Estimates are provided based upon samples – as an example how much gas the average car uses, with an average commute distance to work, with average extra curricular travel in the car considered.  The person looking at these figures has to consider whether they are choosing to drive an economy car or a gas guzzler (that would be choice).  But there is always a base line calculated using an average or median place. Most programs are then able to provide you with a direct dollar-for-dollar comparison between one location and another.

There is more to it, but I’m talking to an almost 10 year old – while I wish to expand his knowledge I wish to maintain a maximum level of interest.

Between the 3 of us we talked it through until we had named off each of the aspects we spend money on in order to function here on a monthly basis.   Then…since we had already discussed housing…I figured we could move onto food; something our growing little man is always interested in “consuming”.

Before we started though…he pulled out the Spanish book we are working with and asked about the Costa Rica colon. Woo Hoo! Another opportunity. We chatted about the difference in currency exchange.  How it may say a high number but it depends on what it buys – so we tend to start out by converting to what we are familiar with to understand what the amount represents. In this case 100 colon is worth approximately 25 cents.

colon

Back to food! I started out by explaining how the same grocery items may cost a different amount in each country. It depends on local produce available versus where they need to bring food in from – how far and at what premium, if any.  For cost of living, there would typically be a “shopping” list of specific items which are then tallied and compared.

2-composition-with-variety-of-grocery-products-t-monticelloGregory has agreed to work together with me on an exercise. We will put together our list of products we like to eat, and then we can enter it into a spreadsheet on the computer (had to pause and explain this is just a computerized version of columns of information like he does in math – he got it – YEAH!).  Once we get to Costa Rica we will then have a document to fill in and compare what it cost to get similar food items (if available). computer badgeWe will then have our own comparison for cost of living.

The additional bonus is Gregory now has a project to do for his Cub Scouts “computer” badge . Love multi-tasking while doing one task!

Name of the Game – DoWoo #223/365

Attended a hockey game this evening.  A friend of ours, who supports the local team, was going to shave his hair for cancer during the intermission.  While I’m not a huge hockey fan, I find most sports more enjoyable in person.  To support a good cause…well, that was a major bonus!

peter puckWe had Gregory’s best friend with us.  He has never been to a live hockey game and does not know much about how it works.  I started to explain “off side” as this rule and the icing rule are really all I remember from “Peter Puck” lessons when I was their age.  Walter said he found it amusing that I was the one explaining the rules.

After noticing team members flipping the hockey puck in the air quite a bit, I asked Walter why were they flipping it up in the air – “It’s called ice hockey, not air hockey.”  He laughed around the soft pretzel he was eating.

Turns out they do this all the time. I just had not noticed it. However, he did find my observation funny and reminded me that football was mostly about throwing, catching and running with a ball – whereas soccer, called football in other countries, is mostly about the ball and the foot.

ballsIt got me to thinking: Baseball is about balls and bats but it does involved the players running around bases.  Basketball is about getting the ball into the basket.  However, golf and lacrosse – does the name reflect anything directly related to the sport?

Not sure how hockey got it’s name…but maybe the ‘puck’ and ‘net’ could have somehow made it into the description.

What do you think?

Give Joy; Get Joy – DoWoo #222/365

During the craziness of our day today, Walter and I realized our plan to have Gregory’s friend join us for the hockey game tomorrow evening and then sleep over, did not allow for the two best friends to hang out and play together as much as we know they like to. Mid day, we altered the plans, calling the friend’s mom to make sure it would work from her end.

After school, while Gregory was finishing his project due for Monday, Walter sneaked* out to pick up his best friend without Gregory being remotely aware. When Walter walked in the door, he called out to Gregory to come down…he had a surprise.  I quickly got down by the front door so I could witness the “surprise” gift we had arranged.

When Gregory came around the corner, and saw his best friend, his whole face lit up!  It was like Christmas morning for him…and amazingly for me as well.

Greogry's Surprise Look

Why is it that seeing the light in another’s eyes, the lift of their smile, when they are given a gift, makes your own heart sing?  Joy is what I saw. Joy is what I felt.

At the time of organizing this slight change in plan – allowing them to have a pizza/movie night, sleep over, all day of electronic fun, ending with a hockey game; rather than a hockey game, sleep over, hour of electronic fun – I had no thought to how this would make me feel. Only that this would please our son.

In addition to Gregory receiving his surprise, we were given a gift which only comes with giving.

* I originally typed in the word “snuck”.  It turns out this is not a proper word and the correct term is “sneaked”. Since it sounded correct in my head the improper way…I decided to make a note here for anyone who wishes to weigh in on the rightness of the verb. I tried finding other words with similar relations: Peak is not puck (it is peaked) and leak is not luck (it is leaked). Freak is not fruck – it is truly being freaked out!  So why did snuck sound right?  Feel free to add to the conversation.

Play on Words – DoWoo #221/365

In our house we like to concentrate on the positive, removing negative words from our vocabulary and embracing the positive spin which we all have the choice to take on everyday activities.  Gregory is a fast learner and I’ve blogged before about his adeptness on this family objective.

Gregory received homework today which needs to be handed in on Monday and he chose to work on it this evening – before dinner – in order to get it done.  Love that kid!   I’m reminded of being employed by a company who said they would send you away with “home-fun” (as compared to home-work).

As a treat, for being the diligent child that he is, we offered him the opportunity to watch an episode of King Julian while we ate our dinner.  He jumped at it and immediately ran down to set up the TV trays.

635504820248610283-King-Julien-001-S1E2

If you’ve ever had the joy of watching Madagascar, this is a spin off of the lemur story line from the movie. Gregory giggles through the entire thing which is always entertaining in itself.  As with many cartoon movies or shows, there usually is some form of “adult” understood humour thrown in to keep us amused.  This evening King Julian fired his adviser. When she questioned him, he said that she should consider it her “fire-tunity”.

lemur2Walter and I looked at each other and laughed out loud.  Had not heard THAT one before.

Cute play on words and great philosophy…as long as (Walter commented) it stays away from being an oper-tastrophe !

What words can you play around with in order to turn a potentially negative situation into a positive?  Please feel free to expand our discussion down below.  Have a blessed day!

Faster than the Speed of ____ – DoWoo #220/365

Question: Is there anything as fast as the speed of light?  Speed of light iStockphoto_COSMOS Science Magazine
Possible answer: The speed of darkness!

Ever wonder what came first – darkness or light?  Walter has said over the years that light can come into a dark room and darkness scatters – but darkness cannot enter a room. Light conquers dark.

download (2)What about light thoughts and dark thoughts?  When you are thinking positively – lightness can grown and expand and share your inner brightness with the world. However, when a dark thought comes into your mind, it too can grow and expand and reach out to darken not only your mood but others.

This is what happened to me today.  But Walter saved me from my own darkness.  I am grateful for his brightness of heart and spirit.  I am blessed beyond measure.

Og, Wiki & Wayne Dyer – DoWoo #219/365

“Failure will never overtake you if your determination to succeed is strong enough.” – Og Mandino.

This quote went along with the story of one lone sparrow being courageous enough to come inside while thousands of his kind remained outside. After the bird was fed he seemed to have disappeared through lattice openings which appeared almost impossible to have entered.

Every day we are given hours of continuous moments where we can be courageous.

courage

What is courage?

Wiki defines courage as: the ability and willingness to confront fear, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation.

Interesting…I had not put these two things together…that is until NOW.

Wait for it….

“Love is the ability and willingness to allow those that you care for to be what they choose for themselves without any insistence that they satisfy you.” – Dr. Wayne Dyer

This is a quote Walter shared with me early on in our relationship.  He said this book had saved his life after he and his first (practice) wife divorced. He even went so far as to purchase a case of the books and hand one to anyone in his life who was struggling.  I can only imagine the legacy both Wayne and Walter left in their wake.

Capture

When I think of this specific definition of love, I typically concentrated on the part where this is a challenging way to live – rewarding yes! – but a challenge to embrace to the degree which I believe you needed to…in order to truly live it. I am in awe of how well Walter does this and aspire to embrace it as well as he has.

Now however, I realize the connection…having written of this evening’s combination of quotes:

Love is Courage!  Courage is Love!

Get ‘er DONE! – DoWoo #218/365

Dale-Carnegie-GQ-12May14_rex_b“I know someone in a rut.   And they’re going to stay in a rut. Why?  I’ll tell you why!!! Simply because they don’t use their abilities to get things done!”

I recall having recited these words, loudly, during a Dale Carnegie class about 15 years ago. I recall what transpired in my life because of these words – a huge shift in who I was spending my time with and I got things done!

When I sat down at my computer this evening, for the 4th time in a week I said to myself “I don’t know what to DoWoo about.”  This evening when Walter came in the office, he asked me “Are you inspired?” to which I answered “not yet” then BAM!! That was it.  Lack of inspiration.

You may wonder…why does that excite me?

The fact that I am experiencing a lack of inspiring observations to share has me wondering what I am doing to result in such lack.  If my world without is a reflection of my world within, this could translate into my inner self taking a bit of a siesta when it comes to getting stuff done!   If I ensure that every day I do one small thing to move me forward…then guess what?  I move forward.

fallingI realize this is what I have done off an on over the last few years – falling back into the stuff that needs to be done but not the stuff that I want to get done to move my dream forward.  Hence, my putting my foot down back on DoWoo #101.  I observe I’ve done it again.

NO MORE!!

I have a count down clock here for a reason.  There is a long list of things which need to be done to successfully depart for our adventure in just over 2 months. This requires a plan of action – documented – and implemented.

DONE!
I’m getting ‘er done!

Inquiring Minds – DoWoo #217/365

last-word-laughing-ag2It appears our son has reached a new stage in his life…where everything we say is responded to with some form of additional verbiage. Sometimes it’s a clarifying statement. Occasionally it’s a statement which does not seem add any benefit to the conversation. And a few times it’s a statement which he believes adds a humourous twist.   If you have ever interacted with someone who must get in the “last word”, you may know what I’m referring to.

building-wordsThis evening we chatted with him and explained the concept of words being the ‘highest form of architecture’ and that everything we say shows others who we are.  And because our words are a reflection of our thoughts and our thoughts create our world – our reality – how he communicates with us and others is important.  We provided a few examples and asked him to let us know what he thought of his words – did they add benefit, did they expand the conversation, were they a good indication of what he wanted to send out?

After a bit of conversation on this matter, he then opened up a totally different can of apples by asking “If a tree falls in the woods and no-one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?” Apparently he also has learned how to deflect.

When I commented during our evening cuddle that while I like our silly conversations, I also really enjoy our serious conversations…up popped the tree question. I thoroughly enjoy asking him what he thinks and then guiding him to observe additional possibilities.

help

On the surface he understood you need to have ears listening for what falls to make a sound to be heard. He even said if a machine was recording the event, it is for us to eventually listen to it. When I asked him about the other trees in the woods being alive, whether they could feel the vibration of the fall, he grasped the concept that sound is connected with action. We explored those who are considered deaf, and their ability to feel sound. He then changed the question to a lone tree, where there are no living animals or other plants, and just the ground, then it falls – does it make a sound?  He decided it was a deep question and could be answered yes and no.

How would you answer this question from an inquiring mind?

My Reality – DoWoo #216/365

spaceThis is something I have been giving some serious thought to.  How is it that we feel we need to protect ourselves from others when they give us no cause for concern – no indication that anything is astray? From what I have observed, it appears to be because certain people have been burned.  And because they have been taken advantage of, a good portion of the rest of us now live in a negative space, second guessing someone’s motives.  While this is a space I have been known to visit – I’ve never enjoyed being there.

What would the world look like if people were to say what they mean and mean what they say? If everyone were to chose a road of kindness and compassion for their fellow human beings?  Is this even possible?  Is there such a space where this portion of “utopia” exists.

UtopiaLet us embrace the philosophy that everything we learn in the Master Key is true and our thoughts DO create our reality. Imagine each of us now has 2 choices: 1) embrace as reality that everyone is truthful and treats others as we were all meant to treat and be treated – with compassion and respect; or 2) wonder whether it is possible another human being may act in ways which are not true or compassionate/respectful to another.

The reality may then be that depending upon which option a  person chooses to embrace, they are correct.  As Henry Ford stated: “Whether you think you can, or you can’t – you’re right.”

realityI imagine that if I choose option 2 – and if something goes astray – I could then do the dreaded “I told you so” speech to myself and feel vindicated EVEN if the result is someone lying to me and being disrespectful.    I thought about this happening…and so, it became my reality.

realityNow, on the other hand, if I choose option 1 – I could receive complete trustworthy interactions and be respected beyond anything I had seen till now.   Good attracts good and I am good, honest and caring.  Why would I not attract good, honest and caring people?  And life is what I thought about…and so it became my reality.

realityI was just about to write about a caveat on option 1 – that there may still be a chance the person lies and is disrespectful….but then I realized, if what I think about becomes my reality, and I believe there is a slight chance, then guess what??  That chances exists.  And so, it became my reality.

To sum up an example of what I’m working towards understanding in my world within, in order to embrace it in my world without, I believe Drake said “I’d rather be an optimist who is sometimes wrong than a pessimist who is always right.”

What do you think??

Embrace & Release – DoWoo #215/365

catch_and_release_logoNow this may sound similar to catch and release but I assure you…this has nothing to do with fishing.  Although you could choose to use this philosophy for fishing if that is your thing.

This morning I received news of something which could have been perceived as sad or unfair. Turns out the first person wanted to do X.  The other person, in control of X, advised the first person X was no longer available.

ideasIn considering options, numerous ideas went through my head.  What I ended up embracing was 1) the only person I have any control over is me and 2) all things happen for a reason, and when that reason shows itself it is inline with my predominant thoughts.

I have had numerous instances lately which have shown me something challenging shows me a brighter path. It may not happen instantaneously but it does happen.  I suggested the first person release the situation, and the other person’s decision, and embrace faith in God / the Universe / our source to reveal the ultimate benefit – all in good time.

silver liningI have experienced situations which are devastating at the time but in hindsight, without that devastation, the huge benefit / gift received may not have transpired. Recently

I’ve noticed that when I have totally embraced the belief that a challenge has a silver lining, and release any need for the outcome to be revealed “now” – allowing it to unfold as it is meant to – the benefit I received appeared fairly quickly.

When I have struggled with the challenge, complaining, berating….living in the negative space it provides if I allow it to – THEN the benefit appears to have taken a long time to make itself known to me.

I choose embrace and release.
What would you choose?

Liberating – DoWoo #214/365

I recall a TV show (the name escapes me) where the host removed everything in the house and put it onto the lawn.  He then showed the homeowners a specific space – marked out on the lawn – the size of a tarp.  What was to go back in the house had to fit into that space.  The rest was to be sold or tossed. And they had a specific time limit to sort everything – AND agree!

Our 1,200 square foot house was staged for selling – so minimal furniture and no knickknacks. However, the majority of our 600 square foot crawl space ended up being packed about 4′ high. Then, there is a shed and all our outside yard stuff.

5x5How does your house/stuff compare?

Imagine doing what the TV show guy told those homeowners to do…but now you have to decrease your “stuff” so that everything you are planning to keep fits into 6 suitcases and a storage locker which is approximately 200 cubic feet (5′ x 5′ x 8′).

Could you do it?

I have absolute faith we can do this.  In the last few days I’m gotten into a rhythm. Balancing work, life and family – making time to go down into the crawl space and bring stuff out.

When I put my hand on something I choose sell, give away or keep.  I noticed today the stuff for keep is quickly growing.  I realized we’ll need to be even more brutal in our sorting criteria.  Will we use it in the next 2 months?  Will we use it when we get to Costa Rica? Can I replace this item when we get there or when we come back? Do I really need to store this or can I embrace releasing it with love?

I used to work for an international moving company.  There was a senior employee of a global company we had relocated 4 or 5 times over the course of 10 years.  When he originally left the Toronto area he was allowed to take around 1,000 cubic feet with him – and the rest was authorized to go into storage.  The storage space he ended up with was approximately 10,000 cubic feet.  10 years later, he was ‘localized’ to another country.  He came back to divest himself of what he had stored.  After sorting through 10,000 cubic feet he kept about 10% and the rest was sold or given away.

Can anybody say WOW!

As our process of divesting unfolds I will remind myself of two things: this man’s story and the fact that while I like stuff, I don’t need stuff.   I have faith!
